Anton “Tony” Linsler, 79
Anton “Tony” Linsler, 79, of Lancaster, died Thursday at the home of his daughter, Rita, from mesothelioma.
Born in Gerichtstetten, Germany, he was the son of the late Alois and Karoline (Scherer) Linsler. In 1953, Anton left his hometown and sailed to the United States, and, in 1958, proudly became a naturalized US citizen. That same year he married Maria (Galuppo) Linsler; they would have celebrated 49 years of marriage, this July.
Anton was employed for 38 years, as a contractor for Banta Tile and Marble & Sons, retiring in 1993. After his “retirement,” Tony occupied his time working as a self-employed contractor. He was a member of St. Philip’s Catholic Church and the Lancaster Liederkranz. He enjoyed gardening, the outdoors, cooking, and sitting at his picnic table; most of all, he enjoyed socializing with people, especially his family and friends. He greeted all with a smile.
In addition to his wife, surviving family members include his daughters: Rose Linsler, of Salt Lake City, UT; and Rita (Linsler) Root, wife of Thomas Root, of Clearwater, FL; three grandchildren: Michael, Kevin, and Julia Root of Clearwater; brother Josef Linsler of Manheim, Germany, and sister, Rita (Linsler) Kohler of Gerichtstetten, Germany.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend the Mass of Christian Burial which will be held on Monday, April 2, 2007 at St. Philip the Apostle Catholic Church, 2111 Millersville Pike, Lancaster, at 11AM. Interment will be in St. Joseph New Catholic Cemetery, Bausman. Friends will be received at the Charles F. Snyder Funeral Home, 441 N. George St., Millersville, from 9:30AM – 10:30AM. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, 314 Good Drive, Lancaster, PA 17603.
