Amelia “Mildred” Epstein, 86

Amelia “Mildred” Epstein, 86, of Lancaster, Pennsylvania, formerly of New York, died peacefully on August 29, 2018, at Lancaster General Hospital. Born on March 23, 1932. In Maspeth, New York, she is predeceased by her parents, Henry and Mary Perullo, and her late husband of 53 years, Jay Epstein.

Mildred is survived by her five children: Darlene Epstein, Jay Epstein, Patti wife of Gerard Salmon, Gary Epstein and Darren husband of Darlene Epstein. She is also survived by ninegrandchildren, Kristine Carey, Kelly Kustka, Kimberly Texeira, Amanda Minnig, Jason Epstein, Nicole Epstein, Melissa Epstein, Shannon Wayne and Grace Epstein. She is also survived by six great grandchildren.

Mildred spent her early days as a banquet manager and went on to own a hotel and restaurant in New York. She was a remarkable cook and enjoyed preparing meals for her family, especially over the holidays. She loved to sew, crochet, fish and go to the casino or beach in her spare time.

A private funeral service will be held at the Charles F. Snyder Funeral home with interment at Nassau Knolls Memorial Ceremony in New York.

In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
