Albert R. Lowery, 72

Albert R. Lowery, 72, of Selbyville D.E, formerly of Lancaster, passed away on Friday, November 21st, 2008 at Christiana Hospital in Delaware. Born in Lancaster, he was the son of the late Harry J. and Ruth M. ( Woodrig ) Lowery. Albert was married to Joyce A. ( Kistler) Lowery for 33 years.

Mr. Lowery was a career soldier with the U.S. Army, retiring in 1975. He went on to work for High Steel Structures, in the Fabrication Dept, retiring in 1997. He served his country in the U.S. Army. He was highly decorated, serving in Korea and Vietnam, where he received four purple hearts. Albert was a member of the V.F.W. Mt. Joy Post # 5752 and the American Legion, Oak Orchard D.E. post # 28.

Surviving are his wife, four stepchildren, Richard Stover of Selbyville D.E, Mary Ann Stover of Philadelphia, Douglas Zook of Mt. Joy and David Zook of Lancaster, two step grandchildren, Nate Stover and Doug Zook Jr, two sisters, Lillian Sweigart of Gordonville and Betsy Hoover of El Paso TX. Albert is preceded in death by a brother, Raymond E. Lowery and a sister, Dorothy M. Sest.

Services will be held at the Charles F. Snyder Funeral Home Inc, 441 North George Street, Millersville, PA, 17551, (717) 872- 5041 on Friday, November 28th, 2008 at 12PM. A viewing will be from 11AM until the time of the service. Contributions may be made in Albert’s memory to the American Cancer Society 314 Good Drive, Lancaster, PA, 17603.
