Jean A. Hockenbrocht, 89

Jean A. Hockenbrocht, 89, of Lancaster, passed away peacefully on Sunday, November 23, 2025. Born in Reading, she was the daughter of the late Charles and Marie Hermany Muthart. Jean was the loving wife of George H. Hockenbrocht and they celebrated their 42nd anniversary this past April. She proudly graduated from Cocalico High School and later began her career for Wilbur Chocolate as a chocolatier. Jean was a faithful member of Salem Evangelical Lutheran Church of Kissel Hill. Cape May, New Jersey was one of Jean’s favorite destinations. Crashing waves and the warmth on her skin with friends and family by her side created many memories over the years. She enjoyed sewing, shopping at Boscov’s, and showed her love to friends and family through baking. Her Christmas cookies and apple dumplings will be missed by all who had the pleasure of receiving them. Her family remembers her for her loving stubbornness, as well as a loving and patient, wife, and mother.
Surviving in addition to her husband, George, are three children, Keith husband of Cookie Kupp, Bruce husband of Sally Kupp, David husband of Anita Kupp, six stepchildren, Deborah Houck, George Hockenbrocht Jr, Linda wife of Steve Leayman, Jerre husband of Judy Hockenbrocht, Gary Hockenbrocht, Curtis Hockenbrocht, a bountiful number of grandchildren, great grandchildren and great great grandchildren. Also surviving are two sisters, Sherry Bell, Anderson, TX and Judy Eberly, Luther Acres, Lititz. She was preceded in death by two brothers, Jerry and Robet Muthart brothers.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend a memorial service for Jean at Salem Evangelical Lutheran Church of Kissel Hill, 26 Owl Hill Road, Lititz PA 17543, on Wednesday, December 10, 2025, at 11:00 AM. There will be a time of visitation from 10:00 AM until the time of service. Interment will be in the adjoining church cemetery. Those desiring may send memorial contributions in Jean’s memory to, Salem Evangelical Lutheran Church, 26 Owl Hill Road, Lititz PA 17543.
