Zofia Ebro-Prokesh, 87

Zofia Ebro-Prokesh, 87, of Whiting, NJ, passed away on Wednesday, August 03, 2016, at Conestoga View Nursing Home, Lancaster, PA. Born in Poland, Zofia was the daughter of the late Ludwig Urbanski and Zofia (Rzecka) Urbanska. She was the loving wife of Tadeusz Zalucki.
She was the former director of the Polish School in Passaic, NJ. Zofia was of the Catholic Faith and was a member of St. Elizabeth Catholic Church, Whiting, NJ and was a former member of Holy Rosary Catholic Church, Pasaic, NJ.
A plaque honoring Zofia hangs at the Israeli Embassy in New York, recognizing her for helping to harbor Jewish families during the Holocaust in Poland.
Zofia is survived by her son, Jerzy R. Ebro-Prokesh, husband of Connie, of Lancaster, PA; her grandson, Mark Ebro-Prokesh, husband of Stephanie; and three great-grandchildren: Claire and Charlotte Ebro-Prokesh, and Christopher Lopez.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11AM, Friday, August 5, 2016, at St. John Neumann Catholic Church, 601 East Delp Rd., Lancaster, PA 17601, with Rev. Dan Powell as Celebrant. Interment will take place at 11AM, Monday, August 8, at St. Michael’s Catholic Cemetery, South Hackensack, NJ. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to the American Cancer Society, 314 Good Dr., Lancaster, PA 17603.
