Virginia C. Braungart Stewart, 75
Virginia C. "Ginny" Braungart Stewart, 75, of Lancaster died Saturday, January 6, 2007 at Essa Flory Hospice Center, Lancaster. She was the wife of William Jay Stewart. They celebrated 52 years of marriage on August 14th.
Born September 12, 1931 in Lancaster, she was the daughter of the late Henry M. and Therese Kellnhofer Braungart. Mrs. Stewart was a 1949 graduate of Lancaster Catholic High School. Before becoming a homemaker, she worked at RCA in Secretarial Services.
Ginny was a lifelong member of St. Joseph Catholic Church and participated in various church activities among which she was a lifelong member of the Altar Rosary Society and a member of the choir for 20 years. She served as parish council secretary for 13 years. Mrs. Stewart was also a volunteer for the benefit of many other organizations.
Her other interests were doing genealogy of her family names, lighthouse “hunting” with her husband, photography, keeping photo albums for her family, and collecting postcards.
She and her husband traveled throughout the United States, the Caribbean, Europe and Canada. She also enjoyed television, movies, theatre and reading, and giving birthday parties.
Surviving besides her husband are four children, Kevin M. married to Roseanne Breneman Stewart, Matthew J. married to Cynthia Wise Stewart, Maureen S. married to Raymond R. Peterman all of Lancaster, and Karen M. married to Robert D. Swinehart Jr. of Strasburg, Pa. Seven grandchildren, Daniel, Amanda, Ryan, Kimberly, Amy, Travis, and Henry: two great grandchildren, Christopher and Nevaeh. One brother, Clarence Henry, husband of Joanne Turton Braungart of New Smyrna Beach, Florida. Three nieces and three nephews.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 440 St. Joseph Street, Lancaster, Pa. on Thursday, January 11, 2007 at 11:00AM. Interment will be in St. Joseph New Catholic Cemetery, Bausman, PA. A viewing will be held at the Charles F. Snyder Funeral Home, 414 E. King Street, Lancaster, PA on Wednesday evening, January 10, 2007 from 7:00-9:00 PM and on Thursday morning at the church from 10:00-11:00 AM.
