Vincent R. Luta, 68

October 29, 2016

Vincent R. Luta, 68, of Hopeland, came to rest when his life energy changed forms, releasing into the cosmos, on October 29. Vince’s spirit took human form in Mount Carmel, he was the first child of the late Vincent and Agnes Luta. Vince spent his formative years in Lancaster City and graduated from Lancaster Catholic in 1966. He attended Penn State Berks after high school where he was introduced to hill climbs and bought his first sports car, his prized 1959 Triumph TR3. He shared 46 years of marriage with his wife, Lynn, and was a dedicated employee at Eastern Drillers Manufacturing until he retired three years ago.
Vince was a compassionate, gentle soul who loved growing vegetables in his garden and always had a few “remodeling” projects going on at any given time. He loved seeing live music, with an especially fond attraction for rock and roll, and was known to shed a tear and get goosebumps when the notes hit him just right. Vince was a lover of nature, spending countless weekends camping with family and friends, and was a dedicated cat-lover and care taker. He was an activist and strong advocate for clean energy, always keeping the future of his family as the priority in his life. More than anything in the world Vince loved spending time with friends and family and especially his grandkids, the favorite one being the one he was with at that moment in time.
In addition to his wife, Lynn, Vince is survived by his three kids, Nathan, husband to Amber, Ian, husband to Lori, and Kendra, wife to Kevin. He is also survived by four grandchildren, Lennox, Ellis, Eleanor, and Harper and three siblings, Fran, Diana and Christine.
In lieu of flowers, please give great big hugs to those you love, send positive energy out into the universe and keep on rockin’ in the free world.

Dear Lynn and family – tried to write this several times but stopped because of the tears (and memories).  It seems like yesterday but so long ago that you and Vince gave me a place to stay at the farm when I got laid off.  We had such a great time with gardening, music, and never ending discussions about energy, the environment, sports, (& sports cars) and politics.  That old wood farm house was our wooden ship, our refuge from a crazy time in our country.  You two made it that much easier to survive…like family.
I saw Vince about 10-15 years ago at the Chameleon and thought we would hook up.  But I dropped the ball.  Now that fleeting memory and the farm are my last wonderful thoughts of the two of you.  Kathy and I are so saddened but would also like to reach out and chat or see you sometime if you feel up to it.  I’m giving my email and phone number to Snyder Funeral Home.  ‘Guess I’ll set a course and go’.     Jim & Kathy Weaver

Ran some errands and stopped in at Saint Boniface yesterday (Saturday) afternoon.  I am sure you would have done the same if you were alive.  I missed seeing you there and your positive energy.  I will think of you everytime I have a Libation!  You are loved and will be missed by me and many Saint Boniface regulars.  Sarah Northrrop and Sue ?? told me of your passing when I stopped in Friday evening.  Rest in peace my friend.  Steve Hershberger

My brother Ed told me about Vince’s passing. I was so sorry to hear about it. We Kahlers all remember how nice the whole Luta family was and what great next-door neighbors they were. Vince was certainly no exception to that. Even though he was older than me, he always had a smile and hello for me. My condolences to Fran, Diana, Christine (always ‘Tina’ to me!), and their families.

To the Luta Family
It seems like not so long ago that we enjoyed the snowball fights and playing as kids on Orange street. Our parents were from an era that sacrificed for us so that we might live a better life. I remember the Luta clan and that Mr. and Mrs. Luta raised a nice family and put them into the world. I can only hope that your husband, father and brother is enjoying sausages and watching his Mom and Dad dancing in the clouds! Great memories.

My deepest condolences to wonderful family. I share many values and similar life experiences with Vince including having owned a ’59 TR-3 my first car. I met Vince and Lynn around the rallying point to keep TMI closed after the accident in 1979.Our passion for environmentalism I believe was motivated by among other things, the fact we both have 2 sons and a daughter about the same ages who deserve a sustainable planet. Knowing Ian and Kendra(a little better than Nate but I assume also)  I can say that legacy will be carried forward. I feel like I’ve lost a brother in arms. And yes, I will keep rockin’ in the Free World. Great obit for a great guy.

I grew up next door to the Lutas on East Orange Street in Lancaster. Summers were spent playing catch in front of the house; winters spent playing street football with Vince and Fran. Other days we listened to music and read MAD magazines. It doesn’t seem that long ago. Rest in Peace, neighbor.

Fran and family. So sorry to hear of Vince’s passing. He was always a gentle and kind fellow, and I will treasure the memories of the times we spent together back in the day. The TR-3 and hill climbs at the Pagoda especially, and the painting of the Yellow Submarine on his bedroom wall. Those were wonderful times.

Dear Lynn, I am surprised and disappointed to learn of Vince’s passing and at such a young age, (I am pasted 80.5 and dealing with prostrate cancer issues), unlike Clarennce Darrow who said:”I never killed anyone, but I have read a few obituaries with pleasure”. If there is a memorial service, I’d like to attend.  You may notify me @: sjohn290@frtontiernet.net (that is two nets, but one dot!), Thank you, John Stauffer.  Been years since I last saw you and about 45 years since I saw Vince! Does his brother still live in Brownstown? I didn’t know Vince had a Triumph,  he might have loved my boat-tailed speedster and my faux 1933 Rolls Royce le Mans Competition Roadster?  My condolences for your loss.

November 02, 2016

Dear Lynn, Fran, Diana and Chris, I want to extend my deep sadness and condolences on the passing of Vince.  Growing up, he was always Vincy to us! Sympathy to all family members and friends. He will be missed, the great memories will always exist. He was a great friend and coworker. It has been over three years since Vince retired from Eastern Drillers. To this day he is thought of a lot. I always looked forward to him coming in to visit since he retried. I am glad I had the opportunity to know Vince.
