Victor D. Sauter, 87

December 29, 2016

Victor D. Sauter passed away peacefully, surrounded by family on Thursday, December 29, 2016, at Moravian Manor, Lititz, PA. He was 87.
Born in Jersey City, NJ, son of the late Victor E. and Gladys (Brown) Sauter, Victor was the beloved husband of Marion (Camillo) Sauter. They were happily married and best friends for 64 years. They lived in New Jersey (primarily Bergenfield, West Milford, Maywood, Oakland, and Toms River) until relocating to Lititz, PA.
In addition to his wife, Victor is survived by his children: Steven and his wife, Leah, of Needham, MA; David and his wife, Janet, of Middletown, OH; Kenneth and his wife, Christi, of Randolph, NJ; and Brenda and her husband, Richard, of Lititz, PA; 8 grandchildren: Michael, Paul, Jonathan, Cooper, Nicolette, Spencer, and Carina Sauter, and James Barnes. He had 3 great-grandchildren: Gavin and Addison Moutafis and Caiden Sauter. Also surviving is his sister, Ruth Walker, of Palm Coast, FL.
Victor’s greatest joy in life was his family. In his younger years, he enjoyed roller skating, dancing, and tinkering with cars. An ironworker for many years, his nimbleness high up on girders was impressive to see. He was a handyman extraordinaire around the house and under the hood. During his retirement, he enjoyed reading and crossword puzzles, a good cup of coffee, visits with grandchildren, and frequent walks. In recent years, he was devoted to his beloved dog, Rosie. Victor was in the US Army and Army Reserves from 1952 to 1957. He also served in the National Guard.
Scattering of his ashes will be private, and there will be a Life-Celebration Gathering in NJ for family and friends in the near future. In lieu of flowers, contributions in his name may be made to: Hospice and Community Care, 685 Good Drive, Lancaster, PA 17604; Moravian Manor, 300 W. Lemon Street, Lititz, PA 17543, or to the Alzheimer’s Association, Greater PA Chapter, 2595 Interstate Dr., Suite 100, Harrisburg, PA 17110.
