Verneda F. Foltz, 98

Verneda F. Foltz, 98, of Luther Acres Healthcare Center, Lititz, died there on Sunday, November 15, 2015, of natural causes. She formerly was a resident of Lancaster for over 65 years with her late husband Raymond H. Foltz, who passed away in 1996. She was previously married to the late Ralph W. Long. Born March 19, 1917 in Lancaster, she was the daughter of the late Raymond Bitner and Bessie Arnold.

Over the years she worked at General Cigar Co., C. B. Tool Co., Hamilton Watch and later in the housekeeping department at Millersville University. She was very proud of the time she worked at Marticville Middle School cafeteria.

Verneda was a very active member of Abbeyville Road Christian Church in Lancaster, being the second oldest member. The family would like to thank the staff at Luther Acres for the excellent care that was given to Verneda during her time there.

Surviving are three sons and one daughter: Herbert F. Long, Sr., husband of Shirley of Roseville, CA, William R. Long, husband of Betty of Dallas, TX, Arlene V., wife of Roy Johnson of Tracy, CA and Raymond C. Long, husband of Karen of Lancaster. Also surviving are her sister, Romaine H. Morrow of Lancaster and brother, Clarence H. Metzger, husband of Sandra of West Willow; nine grandchildren: Debra Long of New Mexico, Anthony Long of New Mexico, Bill Long, Jr. of Texas, Herb Long, Jr. of Arizona, Susan Cook of California, Carl Johnson of California, Raymond Long, Jr. of Millersville, Karen Wilson of Pequea and Tasha Long of Lancaster; several great-grandchildren and great great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Verneda was preceded in death by two sisters, Letitia “Lil” Duncan and Dorothy “Dot” White and two grandchildren, David W. Long and Michele S. Johnson.

A viewing will take place on Wednesday, November 18, 2015 from 9:30 to 10:30 am, followed by the funeral at 10:30 am, at Connection Christian Church, with Pastor R. Karl Crouch officiating. Burial will be in Millersville Mennonite Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Connection Christian Church, 551 Abbeyville Rd., Lancaster, PA 17603.
