Thomas P. Gessner, 74

Thomas P. Gessner, 74, of Millersville, died Sunday, February 28, 2016 at Hospice & Community Care, Mount Joy.

Born in Lancaster, he was the husband of Rosalie E. (Harnly) Gessner of Millersville, and the son of the late Francis J. and Helen E. (Roschel) Gessner.

Thomas was an avid history buff, and a member of St. Philip the Apostle Catholic Church, Lancaster.

He enjoyed vacations all across the United States and the mountains with his family, and he adored his grandchildren, attending all of their sporting events and activities.

Thomas was an Air Force Veteran.

In addition to his wife of 51 years, he is survived by 3 daughters and their spouses: Kimberlie R. and Mark Bennett of Millersville; Shauna R. and Ricardo del Villar of Lancaster; and Staci R. and Eric Bailey of Lancaster; 5 grandchildren: Joshua and Tyler Bennett, Ricky and Shane del Villar, and Jordan Bailey. He was preceded in death by an infant sister, Yvonne Gessner.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 AM Friday, March 4, 2016 at St. Philip the Apostle Catholic Church, 2111 Millersville Pike, Lancaster with the Rev. Lawrence W. Sherdel as Celebrant. Family and friends will be received from 6:30 to 8:30 PM Thursday, March 3, 2016 at Charles F. Snyder Funeral Home & Crematory, 441 N. George St, Millersville, and again one hour prior to the Mass at the church on Friday. Burial will be private at the convenience of the family.

I’m so sorry to hear of your loss. I didn’t know Tommy and your family but heard my father Ronald Gessner speak of him very kindly. I loved Uncle Fran and Aunt Betty. Wonderful childhood memories. 
I will keep you in my thoughts and prayers during this difficult time.
