Theresa “Terry” LoGalbo, 84

Theresa (Terry) Smith LoGalbo, 84, of Lancaster, PA, passed away with her daughter by her side on November 2, 2012, after a brief illness. Born in Middletown, Terry was the daughter of the late Conrad and Mary (Ling) Smith. She was the wife of the late Joseph R. (Joe) LoGalbo who died in 2007. Joe was the father of Jolyne Barnett and Jilann Trainor. Terry graduated from Marietta High School and attended Lancaster Business College. While living in this area she was a charter member and first president of the Elks Club of Ephrata; she last worked as an accountant at Fidelity Electric Company of Lancaster.

After retirement, Terry and Joe moved to Kure Beach, NC. There she enjoyed walking on the beach, collecting sea shells and shark teeth. She was active in her Kure Beach church, Immaculate Conception, where she taught eighth grade religious classes, and was a charter member of the Catholic Daughters of America; she was also president and treasurer of the American Association of Retired Persons in Kure Beach. After she and Joe returned to Lancaster in 1998, Terry continued her church involvement at St. Philip The Apostle. She enjoyed playing in card clubs, gardening and flowers, and reading. She was a “cleaning enthusiast”-no speck of dust, piece of dirt, or fallen leaf escaped her notice! While in North Carolina, Terry weathered many hurricanes; it was therefore fitting that in her last days she weathered yet one more-Hurricane Sandy!

Theresa is survived by her daughter, Claudia (Demmy) Witmer, wife of Michael, of Lancaster; her beloved grandson, Nicholas D. Witmer of Lancaster; two brothers, Robert Smith of Marietta and David Smith, husband of Kathy, of York; one brother-in-law, Clayton Hickernell of Marietta; five nephews, James C. (Vicky) Smith, Jr., Robert Smith, David (Karen) Hickernell, Michael (Lauren) Smith, Patrick (Helen) Smith; her niece and namesake, Theresa (George) Nimo; and many great nieces and nephews, as well as many friends whose lives she touched over the years.

Theresa was pre-deceased by a brother, James C. Smith, Sr.; a sister, Rosemary Hickernell; and two sisters-in-law, Barbara Smith and Mary Smith.

“Life is mostly froth and bubble. Two things stand like stone – kindness in another’s trouble, courage in your own.”
