Condolences to the Family

February 14, 2014

Aunt Barbara and Uncle Ray –
I missed the ceremony unfortunately as I was out of town, but thought about Steve and everyone on the day of the service.
Steve was a pretty awesome cousin. I remember when I was quite young, playing in the basement at your house with he and Sherri, having an absolutely great time. The fridge full of soft drinks and the novelty of a laundry chute always seemed to somehow become the coolest thing ever.
Steve always played well with us, and we looked up to him as our older cousin. I miss those days.
As we grew older, we drifted apart, to the point where we all rarely saw one another. Lives changed, priorities shifted, families grew and took center stage, life happened. The last few times Steve and I interacted were either over a pile of hot steamed crabs in Lancaster (which he loved, of course) or up along the canal in Lewistown, hunting or relaxing by a camp fire. Those are the memories I have of cousin Steve.
When I think of him, or when I see his photo, I will remember the ‘older cousin’ that we looked up to, or the fun cousin that we had a beer with around the fire.
He was a good man. He had his struggles as we all do, but at the core – he was solid, and I was always proud to call him cousin.
Rest peacefully Steve. You are definitely missed.
Be well all –
Ian

I had the pleasure of working with Steve at Diamond Auto Glass many years ago. Steve was a wonderful man and I really enjoyed working with him.

Barbara and Raymond,

We are very sorry for your loss. May memories bring comfort to you and remember the love.

Sincerely,
Elaine and Pierce Atwater

Lee and Sandy Bossert

Dear Barbara, Raymond, and Family,

I was so terribly saddened to hear of Steve’s passing. My thoughts, prayers, and deepest condolences are with you at this very difficult time.

With love and best regards,
Pete Wise

Steve looks the same as he did in high school, riding the bus to Manheim Township. I remember his sweet smile, gentle ways, and twinkle in his eye….he was unfailingly kind. I am sad to hear that he’s passed away, too young. I’m lucky to have known you, Steve. Love and condolences to you, Smith family.
