Shirley was a member of the Lititz Church of the Brethren and Friendship Sunday School Class.  She was active in many church activities and especially enjoyed teaching English to a Burmese family.

Her hobbies included reading, gardening, traveling, camping, fishing, and dancing to big name bands. Shirley loved music.

Shirley is survived by her husband, Oren.  They were married for 55 years. The wedding was held in the Quarryville Methodist Church on May 11, 1957. Besides her husband, she is survived by two sons, Gary Lee, husband of A. Kim (Jones) of East Petersburg, and James Edward, husband of Stacey Rae (Miller) of Lititz.  She was preceded in death by her son, Scott Douglas, in 1981.

She has five grandsons: Jordan, husband of Jennifer (Strauss), Justin, and Ryan all of East Petersburg, and Tyler and Connor of Lititz.

Shirley is survived by two siblings, Adele Davis of Jenkintown, and Glenn Seifried of Hilton Head, SC.  She was preceded in death by brothers Jack, Dale, and Dwight Seifried and sisters Kathleen Shimp and Phyllis Wolf.

A private viewing and interment will be held at the convenience of the family at Old Zion Cemetery in Brickerville.  A Life Celebration Service will be held at Lititz Church of the Brethren on Saturday, November 24, 2012 at 11:00 AM. The family will receive relatives and friends from 10:00-11:00 AM. In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made in Shirley’s memory to Lititz Church of the Brethren Youth Fund, 300 W. To Oren,
Sending my Sympathy to you and your family and also to Shirley’s surviving family, Adele & Glenn.  I knew Shirley through our school yrs because we lived in the same town and in my teen yrs I lived next door to them. My Dad’s family knew her parents and siblings, too. After many yrs and your marriage I became reacquainted for a short time with Shirley and met her for lunch.

My surviving aunt and I wish to extend our condolences to Shirley’s surviving family, too.

Our Sympathy & Prayers,
Jennie (Rhoads) Herrold & Kathryn (Rhoads) Hostetter
