September 19, 2016

Shirley L. (Miller) Friedman, 88, of Mountville, passed away Monday, September 19, 2016 while surrounded by her loving family at Susquehanna Valley Nursing & Rehab Center, Columbia.
Born in Brooklyn, NY, she was the wife of Herbert Friedman of Mountville, and the daughter of the late Meyer and Rose B. (Smilakoff) Miller.
She focused her life on her family, always doting on her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren—they were her pride and joy.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by her children: Stuart Friedman and his wife Johnna of Lancaster; Donald Friedman and his wife Ceil of Allentown; and Robin Aboyoun and her husband Joseph of Montville, NJ; 8 grandchildren: Jennifer, Tara, Jessica, Jamie, Stacy, Stefanie, Carly, and Mark; and 6 great-grandchildren: Ryar, Gianna, Maxim, Cael, Leyton, and Stella; and one sister, Marilyn Podell of North Wildwood, NJ.
Services will be private at the convenience of the family.
Kindly omit flowers. Memorial contributions in Shirley’s memory may be made to ALS Association online at www.alsa.org, or to the charity of one’s choice.

Shirley was always Shirley! I loved her humor and her kindness towards my mother who went thru some challenges with her bi-polar issues. Shirley was never judge-mental. Peace be with her and with her family.

To all of the Friedman family, I am so saddened to learn of the passing of Shirley.  She was a second mother to me growing up and I cherish all the memories of happy times together.  I loved her cooking and loved her smile and her love for her family.  She will be greatly missed by many. May she rest in peace.

With love, Colleen Fries
