Sarah E. Shindle, 87

Sarah E. Shindle, 87, of 2913 Pinch Road, Manheim, PA, formerly of Village Manor, passed away on Sunday, April 26, 2015, at Brethren Village.
Born in Holtwood, PA, she was the wife of the late Raymond R. Shindle and the daughter of the late Daniel D. and Ida I. Eisenberger Dougherty.
Sarah worked as a Head Cashier for the former Community Hospital of Lancaster. A member of St. Anthony Catholic Church, she was a member of the Legion of Mary. She enjoyed playing the chimes at Village Manor and was a contributor to numerous organizations, including the Humane League, Penn State Hershey and her church. She will be remembered wearing matching hats and purses, and loved spending time with her late husband.
She is survived by two children, Gary R., husband of Hazel Beisecker Shindle, Conestoga, PA and Brenda J., wife of William Hanson, Manheim, PA; step daughter, Barbara Ann, wife of Clayton High, Lancaster,PA; seven grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her step son, Raymond R. Shindle, Jr. and four siblings, Mary C. Campbell, James, Dennis, and Daniel Dougherty and a step grandchild, David High.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend Sarah’s Mass of Christian Burial from St. Anthony of Padua Church, 501 E. Orange Street, Lancaster, PA 17602 on Thursday, April 30, 2015 at 11:00 A.M. with Father Daniel O’Brien Celebrant. Final commendation and farewell at St. Anthony’s Catholic Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the Church on Thursday from 10:00 A.M. until time of Mass. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Sarah’s name may be sent to St. Anthony of Padua Church.
