Sally J. Hess, 56

June 19, 2016

The world became a little less bright on Sunday, June 19, 2016 when Sally J. Hess, 56, of Lancaster, passed away surrounded by her loving family and friends at Hershey Medical Center. Her smile will be deeply missed by those who knew her best.

Sally’s greatest joys in life were the simple pleasures like sitting in the sun, grilling and spending time with close friends. She enjoyed travelling, playing and watching golf and attending live concerts. She loved to watch TV especially the Food Network and football on Sundays. Lucky Sally’s favorite vacation spot was Atlantic City where you would find her at the finest restaurants, meeting new people and relaxing on the beach.

She was born in Lancaster to the late George L. Hess, Jr. and Freda Ressler Hess. She was a graduate of J. P. McCaskey High School. Sally was a very respected and dedicated employee of Austin Hardware & Supply, Inc. She was a member of Riverside Camping Association in Lancaster. Surviving Sally are her sisters, Judith Ann Hess and Kathy Lynne Hess, and her best friend, Lori E. Souder, all of Lancaster. She will also be missed by her two loving cats, Riley and Jameson (Tubby).

To most, Sally was a person of few words, but her smile lit up the room. She was a caring, loving, compassionate friend who always took time to listen. The lives she touched will remember her inner beauty.

Friends may greet Sally’s family from 10 to 11AM, followed by a celebration of her life at 11 AM on Saturday, June 25, 2016 at the Charles F. Snyder Funeral Home & Crematory, 441 N. George St. Millersville, PA 17551. Interment will be private. Please omit flowers. Sally can be memorialized by making a donation of blood or monetary gifts to the Central Pennsylvania Blood Bank, 8167 Adams Dr. Hummelstown, PA 17036. I still miss and think about Sally all the time. I worked with her at General Fasteners and she was one of the best!  A wonderful colleague , but a greater friend.  I only wish I had heard sooner about her passing, and what happened.  Sally, you will be greatly missed, and I hope you and George are up there together having some laughs.

My deepest condolences to the Hess family
In 1984 she was our tour coordinator to New York city during my stay in the States as a foreign student.
Hope God place her peaceful soul in the Paradise .

My deepest condolences to the Hess family.  I had the honor and joy of working directly with Sally at General Fasteners for five years in the early 2000’s.  We build something very special, and had a lot of fun doing it.  Our team was very close, and every time we got together strange and wonderful times were had!  Her smile, her laughter, the permanent twinkle in her eye always made our world the brightest place on the planet.  We kept in touch ever since then.  Sally, you will be missed, and forever loved.

There was never a more encouraging, supportive co-worker than Sally.  She was a dedicated worker, and never sought praise or attention for herself. Sally was just content to do the best job she could and she always succeeded. There is a hole here at Austin Hardware without Sally’s smile and work ethic. Know that she will be missed by all of us.  Doug Henry
