Ruth M. Lines, 88

Ruth M. Lines, 88, of Lancaster, died Friday evening at Sunrise Assist Living in Severna Park Maryland.

Mrs. Lines was born in Philadelphia, the daughter of the late John Francis and Beatrice Prince Mc Keown. She was also the foster daughter of the late Amos and Ellie Witmer. Ruth was the wife of Harry K. Lines. Ruth was preceded in death by her first husband John D. Wagner and her second husband, S. Donald Althouse and a daughter, Judith Elaine Wagner  who died in 1992.

Ruth was a member of Church of the Apostles United Church of Christ and was active in the Rose Circle. She was a member of James Buchanan Chapter 315 Order of Eastern Star, Lancaster, Pa. She graduated from Penn Manor High School and Lancaster Business School and worked 20 years as executive secretary at RCA. Ruth had 40 years perfect attendance in the Lancaster Charter Chapter of  the American Business Women Association and was woman of the year in 1970.( Now the Lancaster Prime time Charter Chapter of the ABWA) She was an expert wedding cake decorator  and quilted more than 30 quilts.

Surviving in addition to her husband are four stepchildren; Ken husband of Kris Lines, David husband of Vicki Lines, Linda Gray, Sandra wife of Rod Bailey, seven step grandchildren: Bradford Lines, Brittany Lines, Mandy Kennington, Sean Gray, Connor Lines, Brady Blackwood, Jordon Kaye Blackwood, two step sisters: Irene Witmer, Ethel Witmer, five step nieces: Verna Carpenter, Kathy Witmer, Janice Schlimm, Carol Abert, Janet Althouse, five step nephews: Donald Witmer, Glenn Witmer, Jay Witmer, James Witmer, Kendall Wheeler and cousin Donald Witmer.

A funeral services will be held at the Charles F. Snyder Jr. Funeral Home and Chapel   3110 Lititz Pike, Lititz, Pa on Wednesday at 10:00AM. Interment in Greenfield Cemetery in Millersville. A viewing will be held at the funeral home on Tuesday evening from 7-9pm and on Wednesday morning from 9-10am.  Flowers will be received or contributions may be made in Ruth’s memory to the Scholarship Fund, Lancaster Charter Chapter Prime Time, American Business Women Association, c/o Catherine L.
