Robert J. Griffith, 87

March 07, 2015

Robert J. Griffith, 87, formerly of Lititz, passed into the arms of our Lord on Saturday, March 7, 2015, at Brethren Village. Son of Martin and Susan (Martin) Griffith he was born April 5, 1927 in West Earl Township. Born into a large family, Bob was the thirteenth of fourteen children.

Bob and his wife Geraldine Lefever Griffith celebrated 64 years of marriage on October 14, 2014. Bob was a soft spoken gentleman and a loving husband.

Bob was an auto mechanic his entire working career, working at several service stations, until opening his own business. He was the owner and operator of Lititz Chevron Service Station on South Broad Street, Lititz, which was passed onto his son, Mike, as Lititz Service Center. After retiring in 1980, he opened Griffith Auto Sales at the same location. After that venture he worked for eleven years as an arbitrator at Manheim Auto Auction, He finally “ran out of gas” in 2001, and officially retired from the auto industry. Following his third retirement, Bob spent his time wood working, caring for his home, and most of all enjoying his family.

For recreation Bob enjoyed time at the family cabin in Perry County, hunting and mountain hiking. He enjoyed the company of several friends with his boat on lots of fishing trips. He was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church, Lititz.

In addition to Bob’s wife Geraldine, three children survive: Dr. Peggy, wife of Robert Montgomery, R. Michael Griffith, husband of Robin (Adams) and Janette, wife of Lee Dennis, MD.
