Mr. Stoner was a one of a kind teacher, mentor and friend. I was one of his first students at Octorara. I lost my father at the age of 12, was the 9th of 10 kids, had very little guidance until Mr. Stoner recognized my need for a mentor. He chose to be that person. We lost touch until he taught our son and became aware of my medical issues due to agent orange. After our kids graduated, we lost touch again, although he would ask Miss Link if she knew how I was doing.  Four years ago we reconnected again and were blessed with a precious friendship that we will miss immensly, he really did become part of our family. Our kids loved hearing the stories about their dad at our Easter dinner and of course he embellished a bit. He was a sincere giver and Christian man helping those in need, I’m sure we have no idea  how many acts of random kindness he gifted. Mr. Stoner, we will miss your smile, your sense of humor, your prayers for our family and those beautiful blue eyes. Love, Jim and Carol Tyson

Mr. Stoner touched the lives of so many students over the years.  I am fortunate to count myself in that grateful group.  The cutting board I made for my parents is now in my home…..48 years ago.  Thank you for sharing him with us.  May he rest in peace and know that he is still thought of fondly by so many.  God Bless.   Janice McCarter Ficca…Class of 1969

I was one of the first girls to take advanced woodworking and getting to know Mr. Stoner better was certainly a great blessing and made an impression on me.  He was a wonderful man and I have thought about him often since.  I had this class my senior year of 1979, and I rmember him being so concerned about missing class if he had to evaucate due to 3 Mile Island.  I thought that should be the least of his worries if that happened.  He also seemed to take a special interest in me, being the only female in the class.  He was so patient and kind, he made up for the other teachers who did not care.  My condolences to each of his family.  Sharon Schilling Newswanger Octorara Class of 1979

I am grateful that for many years I taught on the same faculty with Bob Stoner at Octorara High School  Bob and I frequently shared greetings and encouraging words.  Bob was a Christian and a gentleman.  He was a professional teacher whom our high school was privileged to have.  Bob served both God and the community very well.  Now Bob is receiving his greater Life and surely is joyous.  Thanks Bob!  John J Farren
