Richard C. “Rich” Walter, Sr., 80
Richard C. “Rich” Walter Sr., 80, of Lancaster, passed away at Hospice of Lancaster County Mt. Joy on Sunday, January 10, 2010. He was born and raised in Lancaster on Cabbage Hill to the late Chester A. and Armelle (Flick) Walter.
His wife, Dorothy G. Walter preceded him in death just several weeks ago on November 22, 2009. They were married sixty-one years ago on September 11, 1948 at St. Joseph Catholic Church.
Rich was a lifetime member of St. Joseph Catholic Church.
He served his country with the US Army from 1952-1954 and was stationed in Germany.
Rich was an Inspector for Alcoa and Precision Form. He retired from both companies.
His hobbies included fixing electronics such as radios and televisions. He was an avid fan of NASCAR and a collector of stamps.
He is survived by two sons, Richard Walter, Jr., husband of Donna, of Lancaster, Ronald Walter, husband of Karen, of Lancaster, five grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, two brothers, Robert Walter, husband of Geraldine, of Lancaster, Chester Walter, of Conestoga View, two sisters, Armella Johnson, of Lancaster, and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a brother Raymond Walter.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend the Mass of Christian Burial from St. Joseph Catholic Church 440 St. Joseph St. Lancaster, PA on Saturday, January 16, 2010 at 11am with Msgr. Thomas Smith as Celebrant. A viewing will be held at the church from 10-11am. Final Farewell and Commendation will take place from St. Joseph New Catholic Cemetery with Military Honors accorded by the Red Rose Veterans Honor Guard.
