Richard C. Myers, 89

Richard C. Myers, 89, of Lititz, died Wednesday, March 11, 2015 in his residence.
Born in East Petersburg, he was the husband of Penny H. Myers of Lititz, and the son of the late Lloyd B. and Mamie (Cooper) Myers.
Richard worked in the family painting business, Lloyd B. Myers & Sons, for many years until he became a pilot for Armstrong World Industries, where he worked for 23 years until his retirement in 1989. In addition to being a pilot, he was a certified flight instructor and a glider pilot.
He was a member of the Lancaster Aero Club, and received the Wright Brothers Master Pilot Award. Richard’s name is on the Wall of Honor at the National Air and Space Museum in Washington, DC.
He attended Calvary Church on Landis Valley Road, Lancaster, and was an Army Veteran of WWII.
In addition to his wife of 35 years, he is survived by a son, Donald R. Myers and his wife Deb Clough of Rockville, MD; and two daughters: Cathy M. Hersh and her husband James of East Petersburg, and Carolyn Staffieri and her husband John of Mount Joy; 2 grandchildren: Abigail Barstow and her husband Seth of Lititz and Nathan Staffieri of Mount Joy; a great-grandson, William Barstow of Lititz; and one sister, Patricia Brady and her husband Don of Mississippi. He was preceded in death by a brother, Robert Myers.
Funeral services will be held at 2:30 PM on Saturday, March 14, 2015 at Charles F. Snyder, Jr Funeral Home & Crematory, 3110 Lititz Pike, Lititz with Rev. Richard J. Woodcock, Jr officiating. Friends will be received at the funeral home one hour prior to the service. Burial, with military honors, will be in East Petersburg Mennonite Cemetery.

Sorry I was out of town when Richard died.  Just returned yesterday and was at the Coffee Company this morning where I found out that Richard had died.  I sat by Richard many mornings at the counter.  We had good conversation about many issues.  My thoughts and prayers are with you.  — Linford King

We would just like to give our sympathy to the Myers family. Dick was my dad’s cousin. My dad ( SAMUEL COOPER ) Died last yr on MARcH 1 2014. Last time i’d seen both of them was when they came in WEIS market when i was working. I had PENNY as my guidance councelor in middle school.  Now he is with AUNT MAMIE & UNCLE Lloyd.  Dick will b sadly missed. He was greatly loved by everybody. Again our prayers r with the MYERS family.
