Norman G. Strosser, 91
June 01, 2014
Norman G. Strosser, 91, a resident of St. Anne’s Retirement Community, Columbia, entered into rest on Sunday, June 1, 2014.
He was the husband of the late Rose T. Schreder Strosser, with whom he shared 62 years of marriage. Born in Lancaster, he was the son of the late Emil E. and Theresa Krallinger Strosser.
A 1940 graduate of Lancaster Catholic High School and 1949 graduate of Mount St. Mary’s College, Emmitsburg, MD, Norman was a certified public accountant, owning and operating his own accounting business on Fremont St. for 59 years. A US Army veteran of World War II, he served as a Staff Sergeant with a field artillery and tank destroyer battalion.
He was a lifetime member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, where he served as the finance chairman and was active in various functions of the parish. He was a member of the Lancaster Liederkranz, the Knights of Columbus, the Millersville VFW, and the Dutchland Polkateers. He enjoyed baseball, dancing, music, pinochle, gardening, and fishing but what he loved most was spending time with his grandchildren, attending their many activities. He also enjoyed spending holidays and Sundays with family and friends at his summer cottage in Brickerville.
His family would like to express their everlasting gratitude to everyone at St. Anne’s Retirement Community and caregivers of Special Care for the loving, compassionate care that they gave to him these past years.
He is survived by his children: Norman G. Jr married to Kathleen Strosser of Millersville, Marianne T. married to George Rudy of Lancaster and Joseph E. married to Susan Strosser of Ephrata; his 7 grandchildren and his brother, Richard married to Catherine Strosser of Warminster, PA. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Rose Marie Lucks, and by his siblings: Paul, Emil, and Evelyn Strosser.
Friends will be received on Sunday, June 8, 2014 from 6-8PM, with the recitation of the Holy Rosary at 730PM, at the Charles F. Snyder Jr Funeral Home & Crematory, 3110 Lititz Pike, Lititz, PA. Friends may greet the family again on Monday, June 9, 2014 at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 440 St. Joseph St., Lancaster, PA 17603 from 9-10AM, with the Mass to follow at 10AM, the Rev.
