John and Jenny,

Thinking of you and your family during this time of loss. Our thoughts and prayers are with you.

I wanted to express my sympathy to you in the passing of your mom.  I worked with her for quite a few years at Ephrata.  We had a lot of laughs over those years.  I loved to kid around with her and even pulled some tricks on her.  One time, I sent about 10 students to her office for "treatment", one every 5 minutes.  She finally figured out what was going on and we had a good laugh.
She always had the good of the kids at heart and was a great person to be around.  I know her family was important to her. She made life better for many people in our community.

Dear John and Jenny,
When I was a kid, my sisters, brother and I called your Mom our "Aunt Mickey" and that is how I will always think of her. I have fond memories of  all those good times with Aunt Mickey and her great laugh! My deepest sympathy for your loss,
Kathy Rettig

Dear family of Micky: I am sorry for your loss.  May you have the strength and support you need during these difficult times.  I have great memories of camping with Uncle Jack and Aunt Mickey at Elk Neck, when Johnny fell off the dock into the bay, my first motor boat rides, and shared birthday parties when us young Rettigs and Johnny (well I guess you are John now 😉  Your parents were such good friends of mine (Gary Rettig and MaryAnn)that we called them Aunt and Uncle. Sometimes Mickey picked me up from kindergarten and helped my parents out when my mom worked as a nurse like she was.  I eventually became a nurse, and your mom gave me good career advice.  She remained a dear friend of my mom, and we Rettig kids kept updated on her health issues after our mom would visit with Mickey during last few decades.
Much care and warm regards,
Patty Rettig

My sympathy to your family – Mrs. Shetromph was one of the few positive experiences at Ephrata High School.  She was always caring, always professional, and always non-judgmental…I always think of her with fondness.

John and Jenny –

Very sorry to hear of the loss of your mother.  May God bless her always.

She certainly raised an outstanding son — who became a man that I am proud to call my old teammate, my friend today and my brother always.

God bless all the Shetromphs.

Fraternally and with sympathy,

My sympathy to John and Carol and the family.  I came to fill Mickey’s shoes as the high school nurse at Ephrata High School after her retirement, a tough job indeed!  She was well loved here and always known by "that’s the way the mop flops."

Sincerely,

John and family,

I’m sorry to hear of your mom’s passing.  My condolences to you and your family.

Sincerely,
Jeff Schneider

I have been a registered nurse for almost 27 years.  Mrs. Shetromph played a big role in my decision to become a nurse.  I remember her as a genuinely kind woman who always made time for a student who needed to talk or some encouragement.

I am truly sorry for your loss.  Her passing is a loss to the nursing community as well.

Muriel showed wisdom and patience with our high school students and our staff.  I am sure she was a wonderful wife, mother and grandmother.  My thougts and prayers are for all members of her family.

With Christ’s Love,
Dr. Theodore L. Soistmann, Jr. Retired Superintendent

Dear John, Carol and family,
Your mother/grandmother was a friend of mine for fifty years. Her kindness to my family and myself will never be forgotten. My children remember her as "Aunt Mickey". I had two before she had John and we lived two blocks away. I remember a snow storm in 1958 when she and Jack gathered up my family and brought them to that house on West End Ave. They had a fire place and Jack made sure we were all warm when the electricity was off. As years went by, she moved and then we did also. I rarely saw her until she researched and gathered our classmates– about 1995 and every year afterwards. She visited at my home in Glen Mills and my family ( all near 50 years old) and they still called her "Aunt Mickey".  The last luncheon together was in 2010 when she was becoming ill but her eyes lit up and she smiled as we met. I will be forever thankful that I had her as a friend. Without a doubt, she was always the kindness friend. I have so many memories of when we were young married ladies. She will always be missed. Sincere condolences,

Mary Ann Carroll
