Michael R. Fiorill, 87
Michael R. Fiorill, 87, of Columbia, died Friday June 2, 2006 at Lancaster Regional Medical Center.
Born in Monessen, he was the son of the late Joseph and Mary Caterino Fiorill. He was the husband of Stella M. Lautsch Fiorill who died in 1986.
Mr. Fiorill was a teacher of graphic arts at Thaddeus Stevens College of Technology for 42 years. He was a Corporal in the Army Air Force from 1941 to 1945 with the 356th Air Service Squadron. He received a Good Conduct Medal, Distinguished Unit Badge, American Defense Service Medal, and a European African Middle Eastern Service Medal with Six Bronze Stars. A 4th degree Knight of Columbus for over 40 years, he was a member of Alhambra. He was also a member of the Millersville VFW and the Travelers Club. Mr. Fiorill was a longtime member of St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church.
Surviving are his children, Michael G. married to Brenda Fiorill of Lancaster, John A. married to Ursula Fiorill of Conestoga, and Deborah A. married to James Ditzler of Millersville; and seven Grandchildren, Michael James, Jason Michael, Jennifer Marie, Anthony Jon, Hilary Kay, Heidi Anne, and John Andrew. Also surviving are his brothers and sisters, Albert G., Mary Jo, Celestine J., and Veronica M.
He is preceded in death by brothers, Anthony B., John A., and Edward J. and sisters, Concetta (Lena) and Mary Camille.
Funeral services will be held at St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church, 501 E. Orange St., Lancaster, on Tuesday, June 6, at 11AM. Interment to follow at St. Anthony Cemetery. Friends may be received on Monday at the Charles F. Snyder Funeral Home, 441 N. George St., Millersville, from 7-9PM with a rosary at 8PM and again on Tuesday from 10-11AM at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in his memory to St. Anthony’s Church.
