Michael J. Svetecz, Sr., 53

July 14, 2013

Michael J. Svetecz, Sr., 53, of Lititz passed away on Sunday, July 14, 2013 after a courageous battle with cancer, surrounded by his loving family. Born in Bethlehem, PA he was the son of the late Richard E. Sr. and Mary (Catsirmas) Svetecz. He celebrated 21 years of marriage with his wife, Catherine Svetecz this past December.

Michael was a 1977 graduate of Bethlehem Catholic High School and received a Bachelor’s degree from DeSales University. He worked as a logistics manager for various companies throughout the years and had most recently served as a logistics manager for Dawn Foods in York, PA. Michael volunteered and was very passionate about Lancaster Catholic High School and the kids he came in contact with. He was involved with the Boys Scout Troop 6, Pack #96. Michael was a die hard Notre Dame Football fan and also followed the Lancaster Catholic football team. Michael was thrilled to watch his son play football for the Crusaders, and have his daughter serve as the student athletic trainer for the team. He was an avid hiker and enjoyed going to Monument Valley, Utah. He also enjoyed reading and loved animals. Michael had a great sense of humor and touched the lives of many people who he came in contact with.

He was a member of St. John Neumann Catholic Church in Lancaster.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to all the LRMC doctors, nurses, staff, Sue Juliano, CRNP, Mary Ellen Francescani, CRNP, and Lancaster Catholic High School, the football team for all the special care and assistance that was provided to the family during this time.

In addition to his loving wife, Cathy he is survived by his 2 children, Michael J. Svetecz, Jr. and Meghan E. Svetecz, both of Lititz. Also surviving is a brother, Richard E. Svetecz, husband of Debra, of Bethlehem, PA.

A Memorial Mass will be at 11AM on Friday, July 19, 2013 at St. John Neumann Catholic Church, 601 E. Delp Rd, Lancaster, PA with Rev. Michael J. Culkin as Celebrant. Interment will be private and at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, contributions in Michael’s memory may be made to Lancaster Catholic High School, 630 Juliette Ave, Lancaster, PA 17601.
