Michael J. Farley, 49

Michael J. Farley, 49, of Lancaster entered into rest on Thursday, April 3, 2008, at Essa Flory Hospice Center after a short but courageous battle with cancer.  He was the husband of Cynthia Sando Farley with whom he would have celebrated 21 years of marriage in May.  He is survived by a son, Kiernan, and daughters Victoria and Shealyn, all at home.

Raised in Hazleton, PA, he was the son of Catherine Carlin Farley and the late James A. Farley, Jr.  Michael is also survived by a sister, Suzanne of Hazleton, brother, Robert and his wife Ann Marie of Falls, PA., and brother, Timothy and his wife Linda of Hazleton.  Michael was dearly loved by several nieces, nephews, brothers-in-law and a sister-in-law.   He was preceded in death by a sister, Mary Farley Pane.

Michael enjoyed a fulfilling career in the human resources field and was employed until the time of his death by Specialty Products and Insulation in East Petersburg.  Prior to that, he worked for Johnson Controls, York International and Armstrong World Industries.  He enjoyed spending time with his family and his many friends.  He enjoyed golfing, the beach, history and reading.  His legacy will live on in those whose lives he touched.

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to pay their respects to the family on Monday evening from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at the Charles F. Snyder Jr. Funeral Home and Chapel, 3110 Lititz Pike, Lititz, PA. Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday at 11:00 a.m. at St. Leo the Great Catholic Church, 2427 Marietta Pike, Lancaster, PA. Friends will also be received Tuesday morning from 10:00-11:00 a.m. in the gathering area at the church. Interment in St. Joseph New Catholic Cemetery, Bausman. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to The Farley Children Education Fund, c/o Citizens Bank, 600 Centerville Road, Lancaster, PA 17601.

Dear Cindy and Kids,

I’m so sorry we are unable to be with you in this time of loss. Please know we love you all and we are with you in Spirit and in Prayer. Our God and Comforter will hold you in the palm of His hand and cover you with His love. I know the family there is supporting you as you grieve Michael’s passing as are we who can’t make the trip. There is comfort knowing we will see him and Pop again in the next life but it still hurts. We love you!

Cindy,

What a wonderful man Michael was. He came from a great family. I have to say I don’t ever remember Michael in a bad mood – always a smile on his face and he has such a great family. He will be missed by many of the south siders from Hazleton. I’m sorry I cannot get to the wake/funeral – but you will certainly be in my thoughts on these most difficult days.

Take care

Kate Conahan

We were so sad to hear about the passing of your husband and father. Since Shea left the Power we haven’t been in touch but Taylor always stayed updated through Kelsey Eberly. You have been in our thoughts and prayers since we heard the news. May God give you the strength you need to endure the difficult days ahead.

Peace to you,

Jamie, Allyson, Taylor and Bryce Muir

Cindy, Kiernan, Victoria and Shealyn,

Our hearts are aching today. We just thank God that Michael is now out of pain. We will always remember the fun times we shared with him – the cookouts, baseball, football games – what a fan! – Cancun. Cindy, he so enjoyed your sense of humor. And he adored his children. He will continue to live through you.

Love,

The Godins

Dear Cindy, Victoria, Kiernan, and Shealyn,

My heart is heavy with emotions. "You must go through the valley to get to the mountain of God" is a line from a favorite song. Michael made it through that valley and, rest assurred, he is on the mountain WITH GOD. Cindy, Victoria, Kiernan, and Shealyn, Michael/dad made that journey with your love and support. I believe he will always be with you through your journey of life.

All my love,

Pam and Robin Damm

We just wanted to let you know that we are praying for you all. We are sorry for your loss and know that God will see you through.
