Condolences to the Family

June 21, 2019

Not a day goes by that I don’t miss Matty. We were as close as friends could be, and I can’t help but feel that I failed you, that we all failed you. I am so sorry. Sorry I couldn’t be there when you needed me most. Sorry I didn’t recognize how much pain you were in. Sorry I wasn’t a better friend. But most importantly, I’m sorry that I won’t get to see you smile, and light up a room with your laughter. You were truly an amazing person, and had things gone differently for you, I know you would have achieved tremendous things. I hope you are finally at peace, and know that you are loved.

I was so sorry to hear of Matty’s passing.  My parents just informed me of this today.  I went to high school with Matty.  From our first meeting freshman year he was a great friend.  Such a loving, kind person.  Heaven just gained another angel.  Matty will be forever missed by all who’s lives were blessed to have him in it.  My thoughts and prayers with you and your family thru this hard time.

I had the honor of knowing Matt for over 27 years. The Matt Larkin that I knew was a kind, caring and loving human being. Although later in life he  faced  some difficult issues, Matt always possessed a heart of gold as well as an endearing personality. I will truly miss Matt and loved him dearly. My sincere condoleces to his devoted and loving father, John, and sister Erin.

John and Erin – you will be in my thoughts and prayers through these tough days.  I will always have great memories of Matt and his playing days for me at St Leo and his later days at Columbia.  He was such a great young basketball player and young man.  I remember well at the OMPH tournament when he stole the ball and drove down the court uncontested.  As confident as he was he pulled up at the 3point line and nailed a 3 instead of driving in for 2 points.
He is now in a better place and can find peace for himself.
