Mary H. Landis, 83

Mary H. Landis, 83, of Homestead Village, passed away on Wednesday, December 5, 2012 at Hospice & Community Care of Mount Joy.  Born in Lancaster and growing up in Cabbage Hill, she was the daughter of the late Carl and Helen Ruof Hilbert.  Mary is survived by her husband Robert “Bob” M. Landis.

Mary attended St. Joseph Catholic Grade School and graduated from Lancaster Catholic High School in 1947.  Following high school, she attended Lancaster Business School.  She retired from Thomson Consumer Electronics, formerly RCA, after many years of employment.  Mary was a former member of Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church and St. Joseph Catholic Church. She was a current member of St. Leo the Great Catholic Church.

Mary volunteered with the former St. Joseph Hospital Auxiliary.  Mary was a talented seamstress and Bridge player.  She enjoyed traveling, reading and playing board games with her grandchildren and family.

In addition to her husband, Mary is survived by her children, Kevin R. Landis of Lancaster, Carol Lawless, wife of Bob, of Newark, DE, Tina Bull, wife of Steve, of Florence, SC and Ed Landis, husband of Pam, of Mountville, seven grandchildren, four siblings, brothers, Rev. Joseph C. Hilbert of St. Joseph Catholic Church, Lancaster, Robert Hilbert, husband of Barbara of Bel Air, MD, sisters, Bernadette Glatfelter, wife of Phil, of Columbia, and Helen Gross, wife of Frank, of Lancaster and many nieces and nephews.  Another brother, Carl L. Hilbert Jr., husband of Betty, of Harrisburg, preceded Mary in death.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10AM on Tuesday, December 11, 2012 at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 440 St. Joseph Street, Lancaster, PA 17603 with The Rev. Joseph C. Hilbert as Celebrant.  Family and friends will be received from 9-10AM at the church.  Interment will be at St. Joseph New Catholic Cemetery, Bausman, PA.  Memorial contributions may be made in Mary’s name to St. Joseph Catholic Church or St. Leo the Great Catholic Church, 2427 Marietta Avenue, Lancaster, PA 17601. To send the family online condolences, please visit SnyderFuneralHome.com.
