Dear Billy (Bill);  I was so sorry to hear of Mary Ann’s passing.  I remember meeting her one year when we (my husband Jerry & I) were living in Arlington, VA & went over to visit your Mom & Dad.  I don’t remember if it was before or after ya’ll were married. Sonja, Bill and Dr. Griscom,

I can not express my deepest sorrow in the loss of such a jewel as Mary.  That certainly describes exactly what she was to your immediate family and those of us Sonja dragged home throughout highschool and onward.  She was the mother I wish I had.  She always had a hug and words of encouragement for me just when I needed them most.

She radiated when she smiled which was often and I can still hear her voice even when she was angry she could never sound so. She was just too sweet and generous she could never be taken seriously when we were getting in trouble for being too loud or spilling something all over the place.

The world dimmed a great deal the day she passed away.  But she touched so many of us with her light that her memory and light will still shine on through us.  I know as I write this, I think of her and I have no sadness.  My heart burns bright with love and the light that she gave to me in her short time with us here.  She will be missed but I will hold a piece of her in my soul forever as I am sure many more will testify the same.

We were all lucky and better people to have known here.
