Martin A. Ryan, 89

Martin Andrew Ryan, 89, husband of Evelyn Phelan Ryan, died on August 28, 2012 at their residence at Mennonite Home Communities. They were married 67 years.

Martin was born in Springfield, IL, graduated from Lancaster Catholic High School, served in the United States Navy, and retired from Hamilton Watch Company.

Marty was an avid reader, enjoyed Les Paul guitar music, golfing, bowling, going to flea markets with Evelyn, and making gifts at the Woodcrest Villa woodshop.

Marty was preceded in death by his parents, James and Minnie Ryan, his brothers James Ryan Jr. and Albert Ryan, and his sister Ellen Pfeiffer.

Marty and Evelyn have 3 children: Michelle Saponaro, Mitchell Ryan, and Collen Gochenaur; 3 grandchildren: Nichole, Ryan, and Leslie, and 3 great grandchildren: Charlotte, Colin, and Ty.

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend Marty’s Memorial Service on Saturday, September 1, 2012 at 11AM at the Chapel of the Mennonite Home, 1520 Harrisburg Pike, Lancaster, PA 17601. His family will receive friends following the service.
