Martha A. Scaringe

Martha A. (Connell) Scaringe, passed away on December 27th in Lancaster, PA after a brief diagnosis of cancer while visiting her daughter and family. She was born in Albany, N.Y. on May 8, 1933 to James and Martha A. (Sargent) Connell. She lived in Albany for most of her life.

For the past 27 years she and her husband have been residents of Largo, Florida spending summers in the Albany area. She returned to school at the age of fifty to become a certified health care aide in the state of Florida.  She lovingly cared for many people over the years. No outside employment ever surpassed what she cherished and did the best which was to raise and take care of her family and home.  She loved cooking and shopping.

She was the loving devoted wife of 56 years to Michael J. Scaringe Sr. of Largo, Florida. She is the cherished mother of Anthony (Mary) Scaringe of Fayetteville, N.Y., Raymond (Lisa) Scaringe of Rexford, N.Y., Michelle (Michael) Pirro of Acworth, Georgia and Joan (Roger) Monson of Lancaster, Pa. Loving stepmother to the children born of her heart by marriage Marilyn Graves, Clifton Park N.Y., Mickey (Fred) Short, Ballston Lake, N.Y. and Michael J. Scaringe Jr. of St. Petersburg, Florida. She is survived by her grandchildren, David, Michael, Jennifer, Matthew, Alexandra, Alexander and Dominic Scaringe, Vincent and Nicholas Pirro, Courtney, Abby and Haley Monson; her step-grandchildren, Kimberly Smitas(Peg), Christine(Michael)Van Buren, Carrie(Bo) Landry, David(Jill) and Robert Short, Tanya Tagert and GG(great grandma) to Thayer VanBuren. She is also survived by her brothers: James (Shirley) Rensselaer, NY, Raymond (Marlene) Albany, NY, Thomas (Barb) of Chicago, Ill, Edward (Linda) Columbus, OH., David (Jessie) Pasadena, CA., Roland FL., and her sisters, Mary (Dave) Razewski, Clifton Park, NY and Joan (Frank) Rapp of Long Beach Township, NJ. And sister-in-law, Peggy Connell, Albany, NY. She was pre-deceased by a brother Charles. Also survived by many nieces, nephews, and special friends of many years – Teresa and Frank Kosinski, Helen Scaringe, Kate Stazio and Phyllis Moore.In accordance with her wishes her body will cremated.

A memorial mass celebrating her life is planned at St. Francis deSales Church, Loudonville NY at a date to be announced in the spring. Charles F.
