Louise K. Pflumm, 75

Louise K. (Murphy) Pflumm, 75, of Lancaster, PA passed away peacefully on Saturday December 26, 2009 in her home surrounded by her loving family. Born on December 14, 1934 in Greenwich, CT. She was the daughter of the late James A. and Katherine M. (Dolan) Murphy and was one of six children.

At the age of three Louise started tap dancing lessons and progressed to become a ballroom dancer which led her to win a championship in New York City.

After graduating Greenwich High she went to Short secretary school in New York City. Louise then returned to Greenwich and became a paralegal at Hirschburg and Strong Law Firm.

Louise married Richard A. Pflumm on Sept. 15, 1956 (they just celebrated their 53rd wedding anniversary). Louise and Dick moved to Lancaster, PA on Oct. 8 1956 to start a family. Louise was a very active mother and grandmother despite having to battle MS for 48 years. Dick and Louise’s love and devotion to each other was a true testament and honor to all who knew them. She loved the beach and spending time with her family especially all their memories in Key West, FL. On their 50th wedding anniversary Dick and Louise decided to do something special and took the whole family to Hawaii so they could celebrate together.

Surviving beside her loving husband Richard, are three children David J. Pflumm of Millersville, William R. Pflumm, husband of Deborah L. of Lancaster, and Coreen M. Pflumm, wife of Gordon D. Overmeyer of Millersville, nine grandchildren, Abigail, Keegan, Elizabeth, Allison Cook, Dylan, Mason Pflumm, Austin, Chelsea, Kara Ann Overmeyer, and one great-granddaughter Ciara.

All are invited to Louise’s Mass of Christian Burial on Tuesday, December 29, 2009 at 1pm from St. Joseph Catholic Church 440 St. Joseph St. Lancaster, PA with rev. Joseph Hilbert as Celebrant. There will be no viewing or greeting time, Mass only at the family’s request. Final farewell and commendation will be private at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery. Dear Dick and family,
Although it’s difficult today to see beyond the sorrow, May looking back in memory help comfort you tomorrow. I will get through my sorrow by remembering all the happy times with Louise. But I know she is in a better place that is pain free. Thank God for that. My deepest sympathies go out to the entire family.  And as Becky put it she will not hurtedid anymore.

Dear Dick and Family,
Although I only met Louise a few times, I will always remember her fondly. I know that you and Denny knew each other in Greenwich, and you and Leo knew each other here, so it was with much sadness that I read of her death. The last time I saw you was a few years ago at Tobias Frogg, and, even then, it was obvious that you were truly devoted to her. Please know that you have my deepest sympathy, and will continue to be in my thoughts and prayers.
