Lily Metropolis, 28

November 27, 2016

Lily Metropolis, 28, daughter of Steve and Nancy (Henderson) Metropolis, died at her home on Sunday, November 27, 2016. Born in Lancaster, Pa., she grew up and was a lifelong resident of Lititz. She graduated from Warwick High School and continued her education at Harrisburg Community College.
Lily had a passion in sports for the Boston Red Sox and New England Patriots, which she maintained among fans of other teams. She also enjoyed fishing, gaming at a casino, and lived her life to the fullest she was able. Lily had a wonderful, compassionate and giving nature. While she was in rehab, she was very encouraging for others to break their addictions and stay with treatment. Lily died from an opiate overdose following her challenge to overcome her addiction. Through her valiant attempts to break through, her spirit can now be at peace, and the real Lily will be missed with cherished memories.

She is survived by her cherished five year-old son, Braden Metropolis of Lititz; her parents, Steve and Nancy Metropolis of Lititz; one brother, Samuel Metropolis of Lititz, two uncles: Carl Henderson and his wife Bea of Dallas, TX, Curt Henderson and his wife Melody of Magnolia, MA; two aunts: Jane Wells and her husband Tim of Natick, MA and Emily Taft and her husband Mike of Georgetown, MA; her grandmother, Georgia Metropolis of Peabody, MA; paternal uncles, Andy Metropolis and Bill Metropolis, both of Peabody, MA; and several aunts, uncles, and many cousins.
A Memorial Service will be held on Tuesday, December 13, 2016 at 7PM at Crossroads Community Fellowship Church 1060 E. Newport Rd. Lititz, PA 17543. A greeting time with the family will be from 6-7PM. Memorial contributions may be made in Lily’s memory to Bowling Green Brandywine Treatment Center 1375 Newark Rd, Kennett Square, PA 19348.

I was sorry to read about Lily’s death and the journey leading up to it.  I remember her from Greenview Bible Camp. I was her cabin counselor a couple of years.   I will pray for God’s comfort for all of you, I cannot imagine the pain of losing a child, I will  especially pray for her son.  I pray that God gives you all that you need in the weeks, months and years to come.

Nancy, Steve  & Family and also to her son, Braden;  I know no words at this time that have not already been said so let me just say a simple “I am so sorry for your loss”.  I came to know Lly when she became good friends with my daughter Alissa around 2nd grade at John Beck. From that moment they became best friends, almost inseperable. The trips shopping  sleepovers, movies, concerts and just trying to be girls learning and doing side by side. I know Lily liked to come to our house because of Alissa having a brother and sister and Alissa liked to come to your house cause at that time Lily didn’t have a brother. I remember the day you were glong into labor with him and Lily was with us so excited cause she was now going to have the sibling like Alissa had. I know after graduation when Alissa went to clollege out of state whenever she saw me she would always ask about her and when was she coming home next, how she and we all were. .She friended me on FB and it was there that I saw the pictures of Braden and how much she loved him and was so proud of him. Her spirit is now free and will feel no more the pain of  her horrible disease. I feel honored and blessed to have known her.

Dear Nancy and Steve,
Ann called me and gave me the sad news about Lily.  It is a tragic loss and I am speechless.  I will always remember our days at your home when you babysat Rony, and we all laughed and played.  I will remember the birthday parties that we shared up until we lost touch.  You and your whole family are in my thoughts and prayers, and please know that you are not alone in this terrible battle with children and drugs.  It seems to take the most loving and caring individuals from us.  Love, Wendy, Sam, Danita, and Rony

My heart was broken to hear about Lily’s untimely passing … I was fortunate enough to meet Lily at Bowling Green and was uplifted by her spirit and inspired in her presence.  Know that she touched many people’s lives who continue to struggle with addiction.  I will always remember her forever smile. Much love to your family and her beautiful son, Braden … Jeffrey Straub, Ocean View DE

So sorry Lily that you will never be able to see the true you that everyone else saw. You were a sweet, soft spoken, young woman, who was lost to a very horrific Disease. I will pray for your son, in the hopes that he knows that with out a doubt, you loved him and if you could have beaten this disease would have been a wonderful mother. I pray also for your family as they deal with the loss of you. I pray for Lily’s family and close friends in their time of need and hope that they are blessed with solace in their time of grief!
