Kalliopi Flouras, 83

Kalliopi Flouras, 83, of 407 Friendship Ave Lancaster and of Lancashire Hall Nursing Home in Lancaster, entered into rest at Lancaster General Hospital and went home to be with her lord on March 31, 2007.

Born in St George Sikousis, Chios, Greece, Kalliopi was the daughter of the late Stamatios and Maria Manolakis and sister of the late Lemonia Hahalis and George Manolakis.

In her early years, Mrs. Flouras was an exceptional student and worked on her parents’ farm. At the age of 13, she studied the trade of Oriental rug making and at 17, one of her very large rugs was awarded 2nd place in a competition in Athens.

In 1950, Mrs. Flouras immigrated to the United States after she married her late husband Steve N. Flouras, former owner and proprietor of the Red Rose Luncheonette and Confectionery in Lancaster City.

Mrs. Flouras was a very philanthropic, loving and giving human being. In her spare time, she enjoyed reading religious material. She volunteered her time, talents and money for very good causes, especially for the churches, monasteries and missionaries of the Orthodox Christian faith.

She was an active member of the Hellenic Orthodox Church of the Annunciation, the Philoptochos Society and of the St. George Sikousis Society.

She is survived by two sisters,  Angeliki wife of Kostantinos Flouras, Julia wife of Vasilios Mylonas, both of Lancaster, nine nieces and ten nephews.
