Joseph C. Luttenberger, 31
Joseph C. Luttenberger 94, of Lancaster, PA passed away peacefully at Homestead Village on January 4, 2012. He was the husband of the late Bobbe Luxton Luttenberger. He was born in Lancaster, son of the late Frederick and Lida Leaman Luttenberger.
Joe graduated from “Boys High School” in Lancaster. He worked at Bogar Lumber Company and in April 1941 enlisted in the United States Army. He served in the Pacific Theater on the islands of Corregidor and Luzon in the Philippines, and was very proud of his military service. In January 1946 he returned to civilian life in Lancaster and his job at Bogar. Later he was employed by Raub Supply before retiring at the age of “80” in 1998. After retirement, Joe enjoyed his daily breakfasts with his friends at the Willow Street McDonalds.
Joe loved sports and particularly golf. He was one of the founding members of Conestoga Country Club. Together with a small group of avid golfers he took part in the hands on work in construction of what became the Conestoga Country Club golf course. He was well known in local golf circles, played often, was proud of shooting “69,” and most proud of his “hole in one” on #11!
His greatest joy was his family and friends. Joe is survived by his daughters: Lyndal Savu of Marietta, GA and Jody Kegel wife of Clarence C. Kegel of Lancaster. He will be missed by his 4 grandchildren: Jennifer, Clarence and Scott Kegel and Lanae Savu, and by his 6 great grandchildren: Samantha, Delaney, Mikayla, Parsons, Lila, and Lyda. He will be missed by his dear friend Edith Hollins and her family.
Funeral services will be held at the Rengier Chapel in the parish house of The Lutheran Church of the Holy Trinity, 31 S. Sorry for your loss, You had a beautiful ceremony Sunday. Many things reminded of our "growing-up" at Conestoga Country Club.
When you are ready, perhaps we can get together and remember the good times.
