Joseph C. Lucks Jr., 80
Joseph C. Lucks, Jr., 80, of Lancaster, passed away Sunday, May 28, 2006 at home after a six year illness.
Born in Lancaster, he was the son of the late Joseph C. Lucks, Sr. and Rose M. Quino Lucks. He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Veronica M. Bowman Lucks and a son, Joseph C. Lucks II married to Mary Ann of Lancaster, and a grandson, Joseph III.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Army during WWII where he served as a Military Police Officer in Ardennes Central Europe- Rhineland.
He owned and operated Joe Lucks’ Variety Store for 25 years prior to his retirement to care for his mother.
He loved music and was an accomplished saxophone and clarinet player. In later years, he enjoyed attending local flea markets.
Joe was a member of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church all his life.
Funeral services will be held at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 440 St. Joseph St., Lancaster, on Thursday, June 1 at 11AM. Interment in St. Joseph New Catholic Cemetery. Friends may be received on Wednesday at the Charles F. Snyder Funeral Home, 414 E. King St., Lancaster, from 7-9PM and again on Thursday at the church from 10-11AM. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Joseph Catholic Church or Hospice of Lancaster County, P.O. Box 4125, Lancaster, PA 17604-4125.
