Joseph A. Panik, 80
Joseph A. Panik, 80, of 22 Pleasant View Ave., Willow Street, died Tuesday, February 28, 2006 at the Mennonite Home.
Born in Allentown, he was the son of the late George and Margaret Budzak Panik. Joseph was married 48 years to M. Elizabeth (Betty) Worrest Panik.
Mr. Panic was Pilot Plant Supervisor and Lab Tech of Research and Development for the General Cigar Company for 30 years and retired in 1989. He served in the United States Navy during World War II. Mr. Panik was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church, where he was a Eucharist Minister, served on Parish Council, and sang in the Assumption Choir. He was a 4th degree Knight of Columbus #967and a member of American Legion #34 and Strasburg VFW.
Surviving besides his wife and two daughters: Kathleen Makowski of New Castle, DE; Susan, wife of Gerald Stanek of Lancaster; five grandchildren; seven great grandchildren; four sisters; Anna, wife of Stuart Carl; Veronica, wife of Andrew Katrinak; Elizabeth, wife of John Gallaghter, all of Bethlehem; Mildred, wife of Benjamin Fliszer of Allentown; and a brother, George Panik of Allentown. He was preceded in death by two sisters; Mary McLaughlin and Margaret Harakai.
Funeral Mass will be held at St. Mary”s Catholic Church, 119 S. Prince Street Lancaster, PA on Saturday at 12:00 noon. Interment in Conestoga Memorial Park. There will be no viewing or visitation before Mass. Please omit flowers; contributions may be made in Joseph’s memory to St.Mary’s Catholic Church, 119 S. Prince Street, Lancaster, PA 17603.
