John S. Ritchey, 84

John S. Ritchey, 84, of Lititz, passed away, Wednesday, May 13, 2009 at St. Anne’s Retirement Community. Born in Lancaster, he was the son of the late Elizabeth (Helfrich) and Francis Ritchey. John was the husband of Carrie E. (Taylor) Ritchey who died in 2002.

John served in the Navy during WWII and Korean Wars. He was employed by RCA as an electrical technician for 37 years. John was a member of St. James Catholic Church, Elks lodge BPOE 134, the Lancaster Catholic High School Sports Hall of Fame, and the semi-pro team the Presidents. In 1942 he was named Outstanding Athlete by the All Lancaster Athletic Assoc. He loved to fish.

John is survived by 2 daughters; Judy E. Pusey wife of David of Lititz, and Cindy L. Donahue wife of Gregory T. of Ocean City, NJ. 4 grandchildren. 7 great grandchildren. A brother; Francis Ritchey of Hawaii, and a sister; Mary Jane Starling of Columbia.

He was preceded in death by a brother Eugene Ritchey.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Saturday, May 16, 2009 at St. James Catholic Church, 505 Woodcrest Ave Lititz 17543 at 11 a.m. Family and friends will be received at the church from 10-11 a.m. Interment will follow at St. Joseph New Catholic Cemetery with military honors rendered by the Red Rose Honor Guard.
