John P. Gibes, 92
John P. Gibes, 92, of Lancaster died at his residence Thursday morning, November 2, 2006.
Born in Joliet, Illinois, he was the son of the late John H. and Pearl Wisniewski Gibes. He was married to Frances A. Korczak Gibes for 60 years.
John served in the United States Army during WWII in the Pacific Theatre, and was a member of the American Legion Post 34.
He was a Machine Designer for Caterpillar in Aurora, Illinois for 20 years until retiring in 1975. He then moved to Lancaster in 1979.
John enjoyed being a craftsman and was a vital part of the Holiday Bazaar at St. John Neumann Catholic Church where he was a member. He also enjoyed bowling, fishing, gardening, and working with wood.
Surviving besides his wife is a daughter, Mary Ann married to Robert W. Hagen of Lancaster; son; Richard J. married to Sharon Gibes of Plainfield, Illinois; two grandsons; Michael and John Hagen; three sisters; Anna Gibes, Rosemary Burian; Lucya Nosil and two brothers, Robert Gibes and Leo Gibes all of Illinois
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. John Neumann Catholic Church, 601 E. Delp Road, Lancaster on Tuesday at 11:30 a.m. A viewing will be held at the church from 10:30 a.m. until time of service. Interment in Indiantown Gap National Cemetery.
