Jesse E. Surrena, 94

Jesse E. Surrena, 94, of Lancaster, PA, passed away on Monday, June 9, 2014 at home surrounded by his family. Born in Sheridan, WY, he was the son of the late Brady and Lenora (Smith) Surrena. Jesse was the husband of Lee Anne (Watson) Surrena with whom he celebrated 33 years of marriage.

A veteran, he served 5 years in the US Army during WWII. Jesse was a lifetime member of Steamfitters Local Union 420. He was a member of Lutheran Church of the Good Shepherd. He enjoyed traveling, cruises, bird watching, gardening and simply being outdoors. Jesse loved square dancing.

Surviving in addition to his wife, Lee Anne, are his children: daughter, Bonnie Primm and her children: Jessica Rourk and Jason Primm; son, James Surrena; Susan, wife of Charles E. Doelp, and their children: Stephanie and Zachary; Scott West, husband of Nancy, and their children: Jonathan, Jennilyn and Julianne; and two great grandchildren, Tiernan and Aidan Rourk.

Jesse was the oldest of 8 siblings. He is survived by 3 siblings: Marie Erickson of Billings, MT, Bonnie Jean Teeling of Las Vegas, NV, and Roberta Ann Flockhart of Sheridan, WY. He was preceded in death by 1 brother and 3 sisters.

A Memorial Service will be held at 10:30 AM on Monday, June 16, 2014 at the Lutheran Church of the Good Shepherd, 750 Greenfield Rd, Lancaster, PA 17601, with Rev. Mark Russell officiating. Family and friends will be received from 10-10:30 AM at the church. Interment will be at 3 PM at Indiantown Gap National Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Jesse’s memory to Church of the Good Shepherd or to Hospice & Community Care, 685 Good Drive, Box 4125, Lancaster, PA
