Jeffrey R. Hoffer, 60

April 25, 2016

Jeffrey R. Hoffer, 60, of Millersville, PA took his final adventure to his home to be with his Lord and Savior on Monday, April 25, 2016 after a courageous battle with cancer. He was the husband of Jody (Brecht) Hoffer whom he celebrated 25 years of marriage on March 25, 2016.

Born in Lancaster, PA he was the son of the late Patricia (Ludwig) Hoffer. Jeff attended LCBC Manheim Campus. Jeff was employed at Woodstream Corporation in Lititz, PA as a Director of Planning Execution and Purchasing. Working for Woodstream, Jeff had the opportunity to travel to China for business. Jeff was very passionate about his work. He felt blessed to have worked with great companies, mentors and serve great people throughout his tenure. Jeff was a 1973 graduate of Warwick High School and attended East Stroudsburg University. Jeff was a member of the wrestling and cross country team in high school and was a class officer. Jeff was a sports enthusiast enjoying football, basketball and baseball. What Jeff truly loved the most was watching his children and grandchildren participate in sports or being involved in the performing arts. One of Jeff’s favorite accomplishments was finishing the New York Marathon in 1989 at 3:24:18. Jeff was always up for some backyard whiffle ball or volleyball at family gatherings.

Jeff loved reading, writing, hiking, traveling and camping. He especially loved the yearly jaunt to Knoebel’s with family and friends for a weekend of camping, rides, grilled pizza, rock pancake fest and fun. This past year the gang celebrated 10 years of memorable trips to Knoebel’s. Jeff loved all genres of music. He was a devoted fan of the Grateful Dead, The Beatles, Bob Dylan, Bruce Springsteen and the Allman Brothers. Daughter Jennifer’s middle name is Allman. He also enjoyed the music of this generation. Jeff compromised a yearly Christmas CD that was very much anticipated by family, friends, neighbors and coworkers. This CD from Jeff was a gift of his love for music but most importantly the celebration of the spirit of the Christmas season. He shared his love of music with everyone.

Jeff’s favorite pastime was spending time and hosting family and friends in Delaware. He loved golfing, riding bicycle and walking on the Delaware beaches. He enjoyed trying new restaurants and liked people watching on the boardwalk.

In addition to his wife Jody he is survived by a daughter Jennifer A. wife of Joseph Zoccolo of Lititz, PA; two sons Donovan M. Hoffer and Jonah A. Hoffer both of Millersville, PA; three grandchildren Zachary, Dylan and Breanne Zoccolo; three brothers David R. Hoffer married to Karen of Lititz, PA, James P. Hoffer of Bronxville, NY and Thomas R. Rice married to Yvonne of Lititz, PA; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts and uncles. Also surviving is Jeff’s step-father Wayne F. Rice of Lititz, PA. He was preceded in death by his step-mother Doris Rice.

Jeff shared a special lifelong friendship with Jeff Keller of Lititz, PA. He enjoyed their weekly Sunday chats and back and forth banter. They enjoyed golfing and hiking together, many hours of March Madness, the Kentucky Derby and watching the Masters. Jeff also enjoyed Fantasy baseball with his family and grandchildren.
A Celebration of Jeff’s Life will be held Saturday, May 7, 2016 at 12:30PM from the Charles F. Snyder, Jr. Funeral Home & Crematory, 3110 Lititz Pike, Lititz, PA 17543. A visitation with family will be held from 11AM until the time of the service at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions in Jeff’s memory may be made to go fundme.com/jeffhofferfund and or Ann B. Barshinger Cancer Institute, P.O. Box 3555 Lancaster, PA 17604.

Remember Jeff for his caring and loving nature. Jeff you will never be forgotten. In our hearts you will forever remain. Always look over us and shine on us from Heaven. Sleep softly and sweet dreams my love.

Condolences to the Family

May 06, 2016

Jeff was one of the best people that I have ever had the honor and privilege to have known.  He loved his family and he always supported his coworkers and found the best in any situation. He dispensed advice freely and was genuine in the delivery of this advice.  He made me want to work harder and be better and do more than I ever thought I was capable of. The world is a better place because he lived in it.  Jeff will be missed, always loved and never forgotten.  ~Betsy Boyer

Dear Hoffer Family,
While I only had the privilege of working with Jeff for a short time here at Woodstream he left a life long impression.  I knew the moment I met Jeff that I was fortunate to have him as my boss, my mentor. He had a great passion for his work and vision for what our group would become. His excitment and optimism were contagious. He will truly be missed! My thoughts and prayers are with you all during this time.

Dear Jody and everyone,
I am an early JLCark alum. I met Jeff in the early seventies and had a friendship with him into the eighties when I moved into New England. I;ve kept tabs on Jeff through Fred Stehman, another JLC alum. I delighted  in all my time with Jeff. We shared like interests in music. and road racing I dont know but I may have helped him discover the Grateful Dead and I certainly helped him get to a few concerts at the Specrtrum. Jeff also enlightened me to music and brought me a life long love affair of the music of Al DiMeiola.  although we were noot close, I always thpught of Jeff as a friend and not just an aquaintance.  I cherish every moment that I spent with Jeff, He was always such a delight. He’ll always put a smile on my face and perhaps, a tear in my eye that he is gone so soon.  Bob wood

Dear Jody and family,
It was pity I can’t be there, my thoughts and prayers are all with you. Jeff was the most selfless and devoted person I ever known. He was a great role model for many people around him. Knowing for his dedication, commitment and kindness, he gained respects and friendship from lots people here in China. He was strong-willed like a rock and remained unperturbed during the fight with the cancer till the last moment. He was certainly too tired and now he can rest forever. Let’s wish him a good journey.

Dear Hoffer Family,
I offer my most sincere condolences on the passing of Jeff.  I worked with Jeff at Woodstream in 2010 moving Perky Pet Products from Denver, CO to Ellendale, MN.  He is one of the finest people that I ever met.  He genuinely cared about the people he worked with and did everything within his power to ensure a successful outcome.  He made it clear to me that he loved his family and he loved Jesus.  I would gladly share a foxhole with Jeff in time of war.  He was a truly outstanding person and a leader of men and women.  I will play “Baker Street” by Jerry Raferty this evening in his honor.  God Bless you and God Bless Jeff.  RIP.

Dear Hoffer Family:
I am so very sorry for your loss.  As a coworker at Woodstream, I was blessed to know Jeff and to be on his Christmas music list. He graced our halls with such a joyful spirit that many of us did not know how truly ill he was.  He always had a smile on his face and would recognize you in the hallway by name.  Please take comfort in your faith at this very difficult time.  Jeff was a VERY special man and he will be truly missed.

Dear Hoffer Family,
I am so sorry for your loss.  I am deeply saddened by Jeff’s passing.  I had the privilege of working with Jeff for the last 8-1/2 years at Woodstream Corporation.   We worked closely on many different projects, even traveling together to China to attend meetings there.  He was so well liked by all of those who worked with him.  I never met a more kind, more helpful, more cheerful, more positive and respectful person.  He will be missed very much. Godspeed Jeff!

Dear Jody and family,  I didn’t know Jeff well but I could tell by the few times I had the chance to converse with him he was a very happy man, always very engaging and always had a smile to share.  I would see the two of you, hand in hand, walking by the  house. indicating to me how happy a couple you were.  Words cannot convey your loss, anything Deb and I can do please don’t hesitate to ask.  His legacy will servive in the hearts of yourself. your children and grand children.

Dear Hoffer Family, I was in the Band Blue Attitude, and played in several Praise Bands with Jeffrey’s Brother David. I had the pleasure of meeting Jeffrey on several occasions. Unfortunately, I didn’t get to spend alot of time talking to Jeffrey, but I know he was a really great, friendly Guy, and well liked just like his Brother Dave is. I know Jeffery will be greatly missed by his Family, and many Friends, but that he won’t be forgotten.  My thoughts, and Prayers go out to the Hoffer Family, and I pray that God will give you the strength to get through the difficult days ahead.

God Bless you,

Respectfully
