Jeanine B. McConnell, 68

July 31, 2016

Jeanine B. McConnell, 68, of Lancaster, formerly of Ephrata, went home to be with her Lord and Savior, on Sunday, July 31, 2016, at Magnolias of Lancaster. Born in Wilmington, DE, she was the daughter of the late Robert C. and Kathleen (Thompson) Beatie. Jeanine was the loving wife of Thomas J. McConnell, with whom she had celebrated nearly 48 years of marriage.
Jeanine attended the University of Delaware and Penn State University where she earned a certificate for office management. She held two positions which she especially loved: the first was when she served as assistant director of Ephrata Area Social Services; the second was her position as Manager of Cocalico Senior Center, where she earned the nickname, “Mrs. Fun.”
Jeanine was a faithful member of Westminster Presbyterian Church where she served as deaconess.
In addition to her husband, Jeanine is survived by two sons: Thompson O. McConnell, husband of Betsy, of Lititz; and G. Scott McConnell, husband of Sarah, of Wilmington, DE; 8 grandchildren; and her sister, Patricia Brown, wife of James, of Clermont, FL. Jeanine was preceded in death by her brother, David Beatie.
Memorial Services will be held at 11AM, Tuesday, August 9, 2016, at the Westminster Presbyterian Church, 2151 Oregon Pike, Lancaster, PA 17601, with the Rev. Dr. Michael A. Rogers officiating. A visitation will be held from 10-11AM, prior to the service. Interment will be private and at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Jeanine’s memory, to Westminster Presbyterian Church Mission Fund or to the Alzheimer’s Association, PO Box 96011, Washington, DC 20090-6011, or you can visit www.alz.org to donate online.

Dear Tom;

On behalf of Martha and myself, I want to convey our sincere sympathy on your loss of Jeanine.  I am sure that her passing leaves an enormous void in your life.  Our hearts are broken by your loss.  I don’t think I can fully comprehend what a profound loss it is to lose one’s spouse.

I know we never lose the people we love.  Our loved ones will be present in our lives forever; they live the rest of our lives with us in our heart.  God does have a plan and this is all part of it.  May the peace which comes from all the warm memories of the many years you, the boys, Tom and Scott, and your families shared together with Jeanine comfort you now and in the days ahead.

Our hearts goes out to you; and although no words can really help to ease the loss you bear, just know that our thoughts are with you and your family.

We were privileged to have Jeanine as a friend and will personally miss her.

With our deepest sympathy,

Bill & Martha Young

As I think of Jeanine I think of smiles and laughter. One of my greatest blessings was to be with her the day she committed her life to Jesus. She is a wonderful child of God.
