Janet A. Stauffer, 95

Janet A. (Schweers) Stauffer, 95, went home to be with her husband and the Lord on Wednesday, February 29, 2012, at the Mennonite Home. She previously lived at Woodcrest Villa. She was the daughter of the late John and Lena (Cramer) Schweers.  She was raised by her Aunt Anna (Agie) Schweers. Her husband, Samuel J. Stauffer, passed away on August l4, 2006. They were married for 65 years.
She was a graduate of the former Stevens Girls High School in Lancaster. During her life, she worked for the Lancaster Chamber of Commerce, Hubley Manufacturing Co. as Assistant Personnel Director, and retired from the Commonwealth of Pa., Department of

Labor and Industry, the Bureau of Employment Security in Lancaster.

Janet and her husband were avid world travelers. They had spent several winters in Spain and Portugal after they retired.

Janet was a member of St. Peter’s Lutheran Church in Lancaster.

Mrs. Stauffer and her husband were members of several local dance clubs including Hook and Whirl Square Dance Club, Couples Club, and Dance of the Month Dance Club. They enjoyed cooking, especially taking lessons from James Beard when he was in Lancaster.  They also enjoyed entertaining relatives and friends.

Janet is survived by her niece, Winifred, wife of David Woll of Reading, three grandnephews, three great grandnephews, one great grandniece and several cousins.

Friends will be received on Wednesday, March 14, 2012 from 10:00AM until the time of the Memorial Services at 10:30AM at the Charles F. Snyder, Jr. Funeral Home & Crematory, 3110 Lititz Pike, Lititz, PA.  Interment will be at St. Joseph’s New Catholic Cemetery.
