James Michael Pikolas, 85

James Michael Pikolas, 85, of Lancaster, passed away peacefully on July 24, 2016.Born in Clarksburg, WV, he was the husband of Clara (Theros) Pikolas of Lancaster, and the son of the late Michael and Catherine (Diamontoni) Pikolas, who came to America from the Island of Kos, Greece.
James was a graduate of J.P. McCaskey High School, class of 1949, and retired from RCA/Burle Industries in 1993 after 43 years of service. He bowled in the RCA Bowling Team at Rocky Springs Lane.
He was a US Army veteran of the Korean War.
An active member of Annunciation Greek Orthodox Church, he was a member of the Parish Council, taught Sunday School, and worked “take out” for many years at the annual bazaar. He was a proud member of the Red Rose Chapter #71 of the Order of AHEPA.
James was a handyman who could fix anything. He enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren, gardening, playing cards, and was an avid Phillies fan.
In addition to his wife of 62 years, he is survived by 2 daughters: Katina, wife of Dr. Christopher Patitsas of Huntingdon, PA; and Sandra, wife of Lawrence K. Wagner, Jr of Phoenix, MD. “Papou Jim” will be missed by his 6 grandchildren: George (Keri) Patitsas of Baltimore; Peter (Magda) Patitsas of New Cumberland; Demetri (Calliope) Patitsas of Astoria, NY; Paul (Hannah) Patitsas of St. Paul, MN; John Patitsas of Huntingdon; and Melanie (Oliver) Huskey of Denver, CO; 7 great-grandchildren: Anthony, Jacek, Katya, Christos, Panayiota, and Alexander Patitsas; and Cleo Emilia Huskey; a sister, Lucy Matters of Boca Raton, FL; and many dear nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by 2 brothers: John M. and Tony Pikolas.
A Funeral Service will be held at 10:30 AM on Wednesday, July 27, 2016 at Annunciation Greek Orthodox Church, 64 Hershey Ave, Lancaster, PA 17603 with the Rev. Hector Firoglanis officiating. Family and friends will be received at the church from 6 to 8 PM on Tuesday, July 26, 2016, with the Trisagion beginning at 7 PM. Friends will also be received one hour prior to the service at the church on Wednesday. Burial, with full military honors, will be in Conestoga Memorial Park.
Kindly omit flowers. Memorial contributions in James’ memory may be made to the church or the Philoptohos Society at the church at the address above.
