Herbert G. Pfautz, 92

Herbert G. Pfautz, Sr., 92, of Lancaster and former resident of Brethren Village passed away on December 24, 2010 at Lancashire Hall. He was born in Lititz and was the son of the late Irvin W. and Irene (George) Pfautz.

He is survived by his wife, Elizabeth M. (Cushing) Pfautz of Brethen Village. They celebrated sixty-six years of marriage.

Herb was retired from Raymark Inc. and previously was a farmer in Lititz and Hershey, and a railroad worker. After his retirement he moved to Perry County and worked with his brother Dr. Harry Pfautz.

He was a Veteran of WWII with the US Army Airforce.

While living in Duncannon, Herb was a member of Asbury United Methodist Church, Golden Age, Senior Cititzen’s Club and Shermanata Grange. He played an active role in his church until his later years.  He loved gardening, public sales and the mountains.

Surviving in addition to his wife are three sons, Herbert G. Pfautz, Jr., of FL, Steven I. Pfautz, husband of Joyce Forsha, of Manheim, Terry A. Pfautz, husband of Lisa Dourte, of Lititz, a daughter, Linda C. Bomberger, of Lititz, ten grandchildren, seven great grandchildren, two sisters, Ruth McCoy, of Lancaster, Mae Goodman, of Lititz, and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by three brothers, Dr. Edward Pfautz, Dr. Harry Pfautz, Richard Pfautz, four sisters, Beatrice Greenly, Clara Birk, Betty Matoney, and Florence Fears.

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend a Memorial Service from the Brethren Village Chapel 3001 Lititz Pk. Lancaster, PA 17601 on Thursday December 30, 2010 at 4pm with The Rev. Dana Statler officiating. Visitation with the family will be from 3-4pm outside the Chapel. Interment will be in Longenecker’s Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Herb’s memory may be made to Hospice of Lancaster County PO Box 4125 Lancaster, PA 17604. Herb was a good man and one of my favorite uncles.  He will be missed by all.
