Helen G. Payonk, 87

Helen G. Payonk, 87, of Lancaster, passed away, Thursday, February 19, 2009 at St. Anne’s Retirement Community. Born in Mammoth, PA, she was the daughter of the late Andrew and Anna (Mrowca) Payonk.

Helen served in the Army during WWII in the W.A.C.. She is a past member of St. Philip Catholic Church, and of St. Stanislaus R.C.C. in Calumet, PA . Helen is also a life time member of the American Legion Post 446 Mt. Pleasant Charter and a member of the Women’s Memorial in Washington D.C.

Helen is survived by 2 brothers; Stanley Payonk of Mt. Pleasant, PA. and Paul Payonk husband of Eleanor of Lancaster, PA. 2 sisters; Mary Karcz of Melbourne Beach, FL., Genevieve Krull, of Millersville, PA.

She is preceded in death by a brother; Joseph Payonk, and 2 sisters; Stella Zeglin and Anne Anzellotti.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions can be made to Hospice of Lancaster County, 685 Good Drive, Box 4125, Lancaster, PA 17604 or St. Anne’s Retirement Community,  3952 Columbia Ave., Columbia, PA 17512.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Tuesday, February 24, 2009 at St. Anne’s Retirement Community Chapel 3952 Columbia Ave., Columbia, PA 17512 at 10 a.m. Family and Friends will be received before the service from 9-10 a.m. at the chapel. Interment will be at 1:30 p.m. at Ft. Indiantown Gap National Cemetery. Charles Snyder Funeral Home 414 E. King St. Lancaster 17602 is assisting the family.
