Condolences to the Family

September 13, 2017

I knew Hai when we were children growing up on prince street. I find it hard to believe that he has passed at such a young age. My condolences to his wife and children as well as his sister.

I am Dr. Michael Witmer, and was Hai’s social studies teacher and soccer coach at Reynolds Junior High School in the mid-1980s. Hai was a wonderful person, always smiling and positive about everything he did–both in the classroom and on the soccer field. He shared many stories of Vietnam, as I was always curious and asking him questions. When newer Vietnamese students arrived in school and could speak little or no English, Hai would always translate and help them succeed. I am very saddened to hear of Hai’s death, and my deepest condolences to his family. It has been said that “the good die young”–Hai was most certainly good, and way too young!
