Frances C Lesher, 93

July 14, 2016

Frances C Lesher (nee Harris), 93, formerly of New Cumberland, PA, passed away on Thursday, July 14th at Country Meadows Retirement Community in Mechanicsburg, PA. She was born in Berrysburg, PA on August 21, 1922, to Catherine (Kocher) and Charles Harris.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her brothers, Charles, Spencer and Leonard Harris and by her first husband, Kenneth Limppo, her daughter, Diane K. Limppo Lesher Shiflet, and by her second husband, Vernon Lesher, and her step-daughter LaRue Lesher Welker.

She is survived by her daughter Beverly Limppo Lindemuth Antaeus of Santa Fe, NM; her step-daughter, Sandra Lesher Specht of Leck Kill, PA; her grandchildren: David Lindemuth of Ramona, CA, Julie Lindemuth Georges of Catawba, VA, Wendy Bevins of Etters, PA, Sonya Shiflet of Philadelphia, PA, Jason Shiflet of Ronks, PA, Krista Keisling and Shannon Williard both of Tower City, PA, Eric Specht of Leck Kill, PA and Wendy (Specht) Batschelet of Jersey Shore, PA; her great grandchildren: Jared Brooks of VA and Isabella Lindemuth of CA, Kathryn Williard, Maggie Keisling and Ashley Williard, all of Tower City, PA, Jordan Specht, Jared Specht of Leck Kill and Keri Batschelet of Jersey Shore, PA; her great-great grandchildren: Tristan and Gabriel Brooks; her nephews: Eric Harris of Oregon and David Harris of California; and by a host a dear and dedicated friends, who already miss her so much, especially Priscilla Secord, Chris Miller, Bonnie West and Fran Gresson.
Frances worked for many years at “the best job possible”, a nurse in the nursery at Harrisburg Hospital, where she loved the babies and often, on her day off, went in to work to be a “cuddler”. She was loved by everyone there and made deep and lasting friendships.

She was a founding member of her church, Unity of Harrisburg, in 1983 and was an active member until her health declined. She will be sadly missed by her Unity family who loved her so very much.

In 2005, she moved into Country Meadows Retirement Community and instantly became a favorite. This was evidenced by the steady stream of staff who came to sit with her during her last days, even on their day off.

She became an important part of the lives of local high school students who were assigned a project to interview a senior citizen. She was their interviewee and their times together became very rich in love and friendship. Those students will never forget her.

For many years, Frances had been journaling, writing poetry, meditative thoughts and dream messages. Her dream of publishing these writings was fulfilled in August 2015, when her book “Pearls of Wisdom” was published and she has been immensely proud of that. Available on Amazon and at her church.

Frances’ family and friends would like to thank the staff of Country Meadows, Mechanicsburg and of Celtic Hospice Care of Mechanicsburg for their devoted, loving care especially during her last days. You are the best!

A Memorial Service will be held at her church on 10 am, Wednesday, July 20th at the address below.

Memorial contributions may be made to her church at Unity of Harrisburg, 927 Wertzville Rd, Enola, PA 17025, or to her daughter’s non- profit dog rescue at Bridging The Worlds, PO Box 9109, Santa Fe, NM 87504 or online at www.BridgingTheWorlds.org, or to Celtic Hospice Care, 900 Century Drive, Suite 201, Mechanicsburg, PA 17055.
