Ellen L. Luger, 92
Ellen L. Luger, 92, of 329 Wickshire Circle, Lititz, peacefully died at her home on Saturday with her loving family by her side.
She was the wife of the late Richard E. Luger, who died in 2006, with whom she had celebrated 71 years of marriage. Born in Madison, South Dakota, Ellen was the daughter of the late J. Leonard and Elida (Squires) Smith.
After raising her family, she started as successful real estate career in 1972 in Fort Lauderdale, FL, retiring in 1982.
Ellen was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Lancaster.
She was a volunteer at St. Joseph’s Hospital for many years, enjoyed reading and bowling, was an avid bridge player and a member of the Iris Club. Her most valued treasure was spending her life loving and taking care of her family.
She is survived by her 3 daughters: Elizabeth married to Lewis Fisher of Avon, MN, Gretchen Valudes, with whom she lived in Lititz, and Susan married to David Welch of Stuart, FL. She is also survived by 9 grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren, 1 great great grandchild, and by her brother, Edward J. married to Donna Smith of Minneapolis, MN and her sister, Elida Ann Ryen of Washington state. She was preceded in death by 2 daughters, Judith A. and Ellen Luger, and 2 sons, Eugene P. and Richard C. Luger.
Friends will be received on Friday, May 18th, 2007 from 130-2PM at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, 119 South Prince St., Lancaster, with the Memorial Mass to follow at 2PM. Interment in Conestoga Memorial Park. As Ellen loved flowers, flowers will be warmly received.
