Elizabeth L. Gulya, 79
Elizabeth L. (Smerko) Gulya, 79, of Lancaster, passed away on Friday, November 23, 2007 at Homestead Village. Born in Pottsville, she was the daughter of the late George G. and Agnes ( Bubser) Smerko. She was the wife of the late John A. Gulya who passed away on August 24, 1991.
Mrs. Gulya was homemaker. She was a member of the Lancaster Women’s Club where she was president several times and was a puppeteer for the puppet shows performed for the elementary school children by Club members. She was a member of the Lancaster Library where she helped with the children’s story time program. She was a member of St. Anne’s Catholic Church.
Surviving are her two sons, David J, married to Kathleen L. Gulya of Lancaster and John A, married to Cynthia W. Gulya, Jr. of Elizabethtown, four grandchildren, Ellen L, James C, Nathaniel L, Abigail K. Gulya, and a brother Robert G. Smerko.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday, November 29, 2007 at St. Anne’s Catholic Church, 929 North Duke St. Lancaster, at 11AM, with Fr. Norman Hohenwarter as Celebrant. Friends may be received from 10:30AM until the time of the service. Interment in St. Joseph New Catholic Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Elizabeth’s memory to Susquehanna Assn. for the Blind / Visually Impaired, 244 N. Queen St., Lancaster, PA 17603 The Charles F. Snyder Funeral Home and Chapel, Inc. Lititz ( 717) 560-5100 will be handling the arrangements.
